The Athlete Resurrection Program 21.10.2021

WHY ENJOYING WHAT YOU DO IS KING WHEN IT COMES TO FITNESS(and life) One of the most common things i hear on a daily basis. Ya I lost 30 lbs eating no carbs, no bread, no sugar, (insert something they restricted) but then i gained it all back I always go on to ask why do you think that is. They’ll then respond with something like i hated it or it got boring or it made going out to eat really hard.... The reason for this is because RESTRICTION makes ZERO sense. No matter what it is in life we can only do something we hate for so long. Jobs, relationships, and even a nutrition plan have a limited amount of will power when we loathe it more then anything. YES you do have to have some boundaries in line. You can’t throw down 2 XL pizzas and still expect to look like a Greek god. But completely restricting things never does or ever will work long term. It might work for a little bit but not for the long run. What’s the point in losing weight if you just gain it all back after? That’s what i call a huge WASTE OF TIME. You just have to start FACTS: It will never feel like the right time,... It will always be hard in the beginning, It will feel like there are more important things to do, You are going to be confused if you do it on your own, You are going to 2nd guess your process. BUT, Deep down, you KNOW you don’t want to continue to live like this. You know there is MORE. It can be better. So the question becomes; Are you cool with living the rest of your life EXACTLY the way you feel right now, OR Do you want more. Don’t answer that. I know you want more. You are a high performer. Tip of the day: Stop looking for a diet! Too often we view a diet as a solution to our nutrition and weight loss problems. That can be a smoothie cleanse, strict diet etc. The issue with these diets is the AFTER effect. . So what happens when the day by day diet is over? What happens when your meals for ya planned out for you anymore? What happens when you have to eat real food again instead of a smoothie? . . ... I’ll tell you what happens.. Something called Muscle Memory Kicks in and your body goes RIGHT BACK to what it used to look like. You see it all the time, people brag on social media about how much weight they have lost from their diet and then you see them in person a couple months later and they are right back where they started. This may be hard to hear but.. . . A diet is not your answer, the key to longevity is a NEW LIFESTYLE, when your lifestyle is changed you never have to worry about your body relapsing. I’ve had so many new clients ask me, are you going to put me on a diet and my answer is NO. Weight loss VS Fat loss When someone asks how to lose body fat I talk a lot about eating enough protein (while in a deficit) and heavy weight training in order to retain or build muscle mass. There’s a lot of crazy info out there about fitness, so simple advice like this can easily be overlooked by some. ... However, there is A REASON I talk about the above factors so much they’re crucial for best results. Aka they will help you achieve FAT loss not just WEIGHT loss. What’s the difference? Weight loss: -breakdown of muscle tissue -bone and connective tissue can also be reduced in size -sluggish, unhealthy -early aging -very little physique improvement Fat loss: -reducing primarily body fat -improved body composition (better muscle to body fat ratio which is what makes someone look lean and defined) -increases metabolism -delays aging So basically, fat loss will give you a lean, defined, ‘toned’, shapely physique, as well as metabolic improvements. The other day, someone asked me if Its normal to notice changes in their mental health depending on how their body looks. The answer is - there HAVE been times when my physique changed and my mental health changed along with it. However, the caveat is that your mental state isn’t necessarily reliant on how you LOOK but more so how you FEEL..... ... because how I feel is always a result of how I’m treating my body. For example, one of my clients back in the day really struggled with yo-yo dieting and binge eating, there were times where she’d be super lean.... But then she’d start uncontrollably over eating and she’d feel SO HORRIBLE mentally. Her mind would tell her that she blew up overnight and that she looked awful, but whenever she looked back on the photos after the fact, she realized that she didn’t actually look bad yet. She just FELT bad, which caused her perception of herself to go to shit. On the other hand, there were times where she was at a higher body fat, but she felt happy and confident because she was being consistent with her nutrition and crushing her workouts. Even though her body didn’t quite look the way she wanted it to yet, she was sticking with the BEHAVIOURS that were needed to get where she wanted to be, so she felt good!
