We represent a former active duty Marine and federal law enforcement officer whose lawful CBD business and home were raided by South Fulton Police based upon flat out lies and a total lack of evidence (scaring his wife and small children and lying to them about their husband and dad and tearing their home apart). After clear and readily available evidence was presented to the court, including independent lab tests showing all the CBD was entirely legal, ALL charges were dismi...ssed and the case was closed. Nevertheless, SFPD continues to refuse to turn over audio/video evidence that would shed light on their wrongful conduct. They also refuse to return our clients' private property, including law enforcement awards and badges, along with cash, business equipment (including surveillance equipment), lawful firearms and the CBD inventory. Now that suit has been filed, a federal subpoena for this evidence will be issued and we'll get to the truth and vindicate this former police officer and Marine who spend most of his life serving and protecting others. A victory for 2nd Amendment rights.

This is an ongoing issue for those who are injured, assaulted, raped and even murdered while serving in our armed forces. Congress and/or SCOTUS should stop delays and act now to protect service members. The Feres doctrine protects the government from claims of negligence and even deliberate acts resulting in harm to members of the military. As the article briefly explains, it lumps service member on service member and related harm with injuries sustained in battle or other military operations. Our service members dedicate their lives to protecting us and our freedom, they should not be prevented the same redress other Americans have access to for being assaulted, raped or even murdered. (Again, this is not seeking a means to claim damages for battle injury or other duty related harm.) Working on such a case right now.

Further evidence of corruption at the highest levels of government in Atlanta. So disappointing.

The words of Associate Justice Joseph Story in 1840 seem appropriate at this time in our nation's history... "The great objects to be attained in the selection of a tribunal for the trial of impeachments, are impartiality, integrity, intelligence, and independence. If either of these qualities is wanting, the trial is essentially defective. To insure impartiality, the body must be, in some degree, removed from popular power and passions, from the influence of sectional preju...dices, and from the still more dangerous influence of party spirit. To secure integrity, there must be a lofty sense of duty, and a deep responsibility to God, as well as to future ages. To secure intelligence, there must be age, experience, and high intellectual powers and attainments. To secure independence, there must be numbers, as well as talents, and a confidence, resulting from permanency of place, dignity of station, and consciousness of patriotism. The Senate, from its very organization, must be presumed to possess all these qualities in a high degree, and, certainly, in a degree not surpassed by any other political body in the country. This is disconcerting: having judges, prosecutors and law enforcement officers incentivized to convict citizens and recover fines. Everyone has a right to a fair and impartial tribunal when accused of any crime, no matter how small. This is particularly disturbing when it takes away prosecutors and police officers' discretion and makes the collection of fines critical to a city's budget.
