"I moved to Atlanta 5 years and ago and was quickly welcomed into the orchestra by Maestro Juan Ramírez. Since then, Juan has become part of my Atlanta family. ...I’ve learned so much from his leadership over the years, and even more from his friendship. In Mexico today is the Day of the Child "Día del Niño LOS NIÑOS QUE TIENEN MADRE, TIENEN LUZ, VIDA Y CALOR; NO HAY BESOS, COMO SUS BESOS, NO HAY AMOR COMO SU AM...OR EL ÚNICO AMOR SIN MANCHA QUE EXISTE EN LA HUMANIDAD ES EL AMOR DE LA MADRE... Today we are celebrating Childrens’ Day, El Día del Niño Every country has a specific date to honor Childrens’ Day. Since 1925, El Día del Niño is celebrated in Mexico each year on April 30th as a tribute to children. Schools host special events, inviting parents to celebrate and share Children’s Day with students. Fiestas are held and children take part in activities such as story-telling, art displays, songs, food, dance and music. Children are recognized as an important part of our world society, so the event focuses on the importance of loving, accepting, and appreciating children. We celebrate the diversity of young children who are learning to become leaders and stewards of the natural world, champions of their heritage, and designers of prosperous and innovative members of our free society. This celebration is envisioned as a rich and exciting experience that will encourage our society to set aside pre-conceived notions about children of different backgrounds and social experience, and instead, focus on what they have to express. All children deserve an education in the arts, one that enables them to create, perform, and communicate their human expressions. All children are born with creative imaginations and artistic curiosity. Juan R. Ramírez, Founder and Artistic Director of the Atlanta Virtuosi Foundation. www.atlantavirtuosifoundation.org
