In explaining how baptismnow saves you, Peter elaborates that it is not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience. Even though both Peter and Jesus clearly require baptism for one to be saved just as other passages in the New Testament likewise require faith and repentance for salvation (cf. John 3:16; Acts 3:19), some believe that one is saved before being baptized. Thus, this verse is sometimes viewed as teaching a person has a good conscience BEFORE baptism. This is not what the passage is saying, for several reasons. As our study of 2 Peter continues, we dive into chapter 2. In this chapter Peter gives strong warnings against false teachers and describes what they do and the terrible consequences of following their heresy. It would be good for Christians to heed these warnings today, for there are many false teachers out there. https://youtu.be/9meIzSJ1v_E

God is certainly the God of peace (cf. Romans 15:33). One of the blessings of being a Christian is the privilege of taking everything to God in prayer and receiving the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7). This peace comes because Christians have been reconciled to God through the death of Jesus (Romans 5:10). My sermon last Sunday. It examines what sin does to us when we allow it reign in our lives. https://youtu.be/IvijPLcSVpw
