Camden County Sheriff's Office Special Operations

Marine Patrol wants to remind everyone that May 18 - May 24 is Boater Safety Week. Please ensure that you have all of your safety equipment and watch out for other boaters.

Last week on Thursday, April 11, 2019, we were able to have Mrs. Moody's 3rd grade class from St. Marys Elementary School join us for a tour of the substation and get an exclusive insight on some of the things Special Operations fulfills as some of our duties. We would like to extend a big thank you to Mrs. Moody and her chaperones for coming out with some of our youth of our community to learn about what we do! We were able to recruit a lot of Jr. Deputies and we hope that each and every one of them had a great learning experience.

Search and Rescue consists of an all-volunteer group. They consist of three teams within itself: Land, Marine, and Dive. The "Land Team" has aided in searching for missing persons and evidence. The "Dive Team" is called upon for sunken stolen vehicles, drownings, and eveidence. The "Boat Team" aides the divers, recovers lost or broken down boaters and helps block the waterways for special events. The Search and Rescue Team has been called upon to help surrounding counties several times, and they can also be found helping out at the "Woodbine Crawfish Festival" and down at the "St. Mary's 4th of July".

This month we completed the "Vessel Safety Check" on all three boats operated by the Marine Patrol. This safety check was performed by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. With the boating season upon us, we recommend every boater have their boat checked out.

We are excited to announce the launch of our Special Operations Facebook page! "Special Operations" involves many facets for the Camden County Sheriff's Office. These include Criminal Investigations, Drug Task Force, Emergency Response Team, Training, Search and Rescue, K9, Marine Patrol, and Gun Range. Posts made to this page will be generic in nature as not to impede on any ongoing investigations or special details within this division of the Sheriff's Office.
