Ela é inclusiva, a capoeira é incrível, na capoeira não cabe o preconceito, ela nos ensina o respeito, nela não há separação. Não importa s...ua cor, crença, fé, religião. A capoeira ela é... Special thanks to our Mestres & Inspirations Mestre Fran Maculele Capoeira and Mestra Sara Janeni Francisco Da Silva, known in Capoeira as Mestre Fran and Sara Jenani, known in Capoeira as Mestra Sara moved to Atlanta 17 years ago after an invitation from Georgia State University and Emory University to develop a capoeira program in Atlanta, GA. Mestre Fran became the first Mestre in Georgia. Mestre Fran's Message: Capoeiristas can't never give up on Capoeira. Stay strong! Capoeira is a legacy, you have to dedicate and travel. But the first thing is to #respect your Mestre and follow what he says. There's two types of students.. The student that trains and leaves, and there's the disciple, the one who follows the Mestre and listens to what the Mestre says. Capoeiristas needs to treat capoeira with love and care. Everything you give to capoeira you will receive later.. only when time passes! Capoeria Maculele at Georgia State University and Emory University- THE BEGINNING! Francisco Antonio Rodrigues da Silva, better known as Mestre Fran was invited by Georgia State University in 2002 to perform a capoeira show and the students fell in love with the art. Mestre Fran became the first capoeira Mestre in Georgia to introduce the unfamiliar martial art to students of Georgia State and with the help of Steven Alphabet ‘former Athletic Director’ of Georgia State Unive...rsity this dream was possible. Like all beginnings are not easy, especially in a different country, Mestre Fran and Mestra Sara started to promote capoeira around the city of Atlanta. It was innumerous performances at Georgia State, Centennial Olympic Park, Underground Atlanta, Decatur, Piedmont Park and other locations around Atlanta. Later that same year, Mestre Fran and Mestra Sara organized the first Capoeira Batizado at Georgia State with students and guests from all over the US and Brazil. In 2003, Mestre Fran received an invitation from Emory University and oxford to start a capoeira program with Emory students. Mestre and Mestra Sara drove one hour every day to teach free classes at Emory and share capoeira but also promote Brazilian culture including: Portuguese, Samba, Food, and other cultural dances. The first capoeira event and Batizado at Emory University was in 2003 with more than 48 students! Looking back today, after 16 years of hard work to introduce capoeira to Atlanta’s community, Mestre Fran and Mestra Sara keeps sharing their passion here with hundreds of peoples and promoting this beautiful art, Capoeira. On October 25th, City of Decatur Mayor ‘James Baskett’ declared ‘Mestre Fran Day’ a very important recognition for years of hard work to promote capoeira here in Decatur and Atlanta but also all the social projects that has been a force for good in the lives of hundreds of children and adults from all over the world with his compassion and charisma and energy.
