In order to do our part to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, we have made the decision to only work virtually with new and existing clients until the situation improves. We will be in the office, though the door is locked through Friday, April 10th, 2020. We will be closed until Tuesday, May 5, 2018, for some much needed R&R, as we do each year. Economic stimulus payments are automatic for social security recipients.

How do I file a "simple return" in order to get a stimulus payment? Also, what if IRS doesn't have my Direct Deposit Information? We are still awaiting guidance on how the IRS will support filing ‘Simple Tax Returns.’ People who typically do not file a tax return will need to file a simple tax return to receive an economic impact payment. This includes low-income taxpayers, senior citizens, Social Security recipients, some veterans and individuals with disabilities who are o...therwise not required to file a tax return will not owe tax. On Monday, March 30, the IRS indicated that those who normally aren’t required to file taxes will need to file a ‘simple tax return’ in order to get a stimulus payment. At this time, the IRS has not provided instruction on how this should be done. By filing these types of returns before we have IRS guidance, we may create more challenges for these taxpayers and strongly advise against filing at this time. In addition, the IRS also indicated it would provide a web-based portal in the coming weeks for taxpayers to provide direct deposit information if they didn’t provide it on either their 2018 or 2019 tax return. This portal is not yet available. Taxpayers should be on alert for phishing scams that try to take advantage of this situation. We will provide more information on how to file taxes for those who need a simple return as soon as we receive it.
