Clay Patterson, E-911 Director is excited and proud to announce the promotion of Misty Zapata from Training Officer to Shift Supervisor. Misty has been with Carroll County 911 for over 5 years and during that time has served both as a communications officer, training officer, and acting supervisor on many occasions. She has continuously stepped up to the plate showing her ability to be a team player and I appreciate her dedication to the agency. Even in my short time as director I have observed Misty’s abilities and am confident that she will be an effective leader on her shift. I look forward to watching her grow through this position.

Carroll County Chairman Michelle Morgan was joined by members of the Carroll County Board of Commissioners to present a Proclamation to Tanner Medical Center staff celebrating their courageous response to the COVID-19 pandemic and their efforts to save lives in our community on March 30, 2021 which is recognized as National Doctors' Day. Chairman Michelle Morgan pictured along with District 2 Commissioner Clint Chance, and District 5 Commissioner Ernie Reynolds presented the ...proclamation to Loy Howard, President and CEO of Tanner Medical Center. Dr. Laura Larson, Medical Director of Infection Prevention was also presented with a special challenge coin commemorating her heroic efforts, endless hours, and assistance she provided for the citizens of Carroll County during this crisis. Carroll County is very fortunate to have a strong relationship with our medical professionals which paved the way for the community to receive regular updates, learn the ever-changing preventive measures to stop the spread of the virus, and build trust knowing that everyone is truly in this together. Press Release: Carroll County Purchases Two Industrial Trash Compactors for Newnan Road Convenience Center (Carroll County, GA) Many citizens in the West Georgia area utilize the Newnan Road Convenience Center location to take their household trash and recycling items making this location easily one of the busiest in the County averaging around 800 cars per day. As Carroll County continues to grow the Board of Commissioners recognized the need to expand the capabilities of ...the Convenience Center to ensure that the overflow of garbage is met with efficient and effective ways to compact and dispose of the 12 tons of household garbage that is brought in by the public daily. Industrial Trash Compactors provide a cleaner environment by crushing the trash contained within the compactor reducing the smell and minimizes the process of transferring the garbage to the landfill. The Carroll County Board of Commissioners, along with representatives from the Public Works Department, GFL Environmental Incorporated, and SLM Recycling Incorporated commemorated the opening of the new compactors on Wednesday 28, 2020 prior to Tropical Storm Zeta’s arrival. The compactors are now open to the public and we have been receiving positive feedback of how easy it is for our citizens to toss the garbage down the shoot as opposed to up and over the garbage bins making it easier for the elderly or those with disabilities to easily dispose of household garbage with little or no assistance.

For immediate release: Thad Ferguson appointed as Carroll County Recreation Director Thad Ferguson, who is currently serving as interim Recreation Director for Carroll County has officially been named as the permanent Director by Chairman Michelle Morgan. As Director, Ferguson will be responsible for managing and directing Carroll County’s recreational activities and supervising employees at all recreational facilities.... Ferguson began his career at the Georgia Tech Athletic Association as a marketing intern in 2007 and then served as the Director of Recreation for the City of Temple from 2008-2014 before transitioning to Carroll County as the Athletic Coordinator in 2014. Ferguson holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from the University of West Georgia and a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Troy University. Ferguson is a Carroll County native and a graduate of Carrollton High School and is proud to serve the community in which he grew up in and is currently raising his children who are highly active in recreational sports. Ferguson stated, I am excited for the opportunity to serve the community in this new capacity and look forward to continuing the traditions of providing our youth a safe place to learn and grow through the many amazing programs the recreation department offers. Chairman Morgan said in a statement about the transition, I am very proud of Thad who has proven himself to be a great leader after stepping into the role of Interim Director after the position was vacated in May of this year. COVID-19 has provided many challenges to us all, and I appreciate his leadership in working with staff to bring children back to recreational activities in a safe environment. Ferguson’s transition will become official on Friday, October 23, 2020.
