Carrollton ENT 21.12.2020

We continue spotlighting our Nurse Practitioners. My name is Amy Moseley-Rowell, and I was born and raised in Douglasville, Georgia. I graduated Douglas County High School in 1994. Carrollton became my home when I started the University of West Georgia in the fall of 1994. I have always had a love for children which led me to pursue a degree as an elementary school teacher. I taught for several years, but after having my own children, I decided to change my career to nursing... a decision that I am thankful for everyday. I graduated from the University of West Georgia again in 2010 with my BSN in nursing. Most of my nursing career has been spent in the emergency department at Tanner Medical Center. I also spent some time working as a school nurse for Carrollton City Schools and still enjoy being involved as much as possible there. Go Trojans!! In 2017, I decided to further my career by attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). I received my degree as a family nurse practitioner in 2019. My interest in ENT was two-fold. I love seeing patients of all ages and here I am able to see across the life span. My husband was diagnosed with head and neck cancer in 2013 which has made me more aware and interested in the increasing prevalence of head and neck cancer. I have three children who attend Carrollton City Schools. I have a rising senior, sophomore, and 2nd grader. They are my pride and joy! We attend Carrollton First United Methodist Church. My family enjoys boating, hiking, and campingreally most things outdoors. I especially love to read, walk, and spend time with my family and friends. I love our community and look forward to serving you at Carrollton Ear, Nose, and Throat! See more

Since this week concluded National Nurses Week, we want to spotlight our Nurse Practitioners. Hello! My name is Nikki McKinnon, and I am honored to work at Carrollton ENT as a Nurse Practitioner. I grew up in Senoia, Georgia and graduated from Starrs Mill High School. After high school, I earned a position on the All-Girl cheerleading squad at the University of West Georgia, so I moved and made Carrollton my new home. I cheered 4 years and was a member of the very first All...-Girl team to win a National Championship and continued to achieve a total of 3 National titles! *Go Wolves!! The time at UWG and my collegiate cheer career gave me life-long memories, a supportive team and alumni community, taught me many life lessons, and introduced me to my husband! Although cheerleading brought me to UWG, acceptance into the amazing and highly competitive nursing school kept me there, and I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2008. I could not imagine doing anything different than being a nurse. I love all aspects of taking care of patients. As a registered nurse, I have been with Tanner Medical Center for 11 years, mostly working with heart patients on the cardiac progressive care unit (CPCU). Even though I absolutely loved working night shift in acute care, transitioning to primary care has been rewarding in my ability to truly make a difference in patients' lives and apply more of a holistic style of care. In 2016, I received a Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and became certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I began working at Carrollton Ear, Nose, and Throat that same year. Since that time we have been able to expand our practice to offer allergy testing and immunotherapy treatment. I really enjoy all aspects of ENT care and hope to continue to provide quality, compassionate care to all people. I married my college sweetheart, Ryan, who works for Carrollton City Schools as the assistant principal for Carrollton Elementary School. We have 3 sons, Liam (10), Dawson (7), and Greyson (4). We are members of Midway Church where I serve in the children's ministry, and Ryan co-leads an adult life group. We spend a lot of time together as a family. Most of our time off is spent at the ball fields because my children love all sports! We hope to stay and grow in our community for many years. I am accepting patients of all ages and look forward to taking care of you.

Our physician spotlight continues! Here’s what Dr. Gambrell said when we asked him to tell us about himself. I was born across the street at Tanner Memorial Hospital and grew up here in Carroll County, a student of the Central School System - CHS Class Of 1994!!!! I was then fortunate enough to attend the greatest undergraduate university in the nation, and possibly the world, The University of Georgia. Crazy enough, I started out as a Music major, then I had a change of h...eart and explored health care sciences. I worked at Southern Therapy over a couple of summers, then had an insane idea to obtain a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and go on to medical school. I pursued my MD from Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, married my high school sweetheart, Katie (CHS c/o 1995) the day after the Biochem final!, then went on to specialize in Otolaryngology at the University of Louisville. We moved back home with our two daughters, Gracie and Lily, in 2008. I find all areas of a busy Otolaryngology practice to be interesting and exciting, from general primary care and pediatrics to allergy and rhinology. We have expanded our endocrine and head and neck practice significantly over the last twelve years, which has been extremely rewarding. I am a member of Carrollton First United Methodist Church and currently teach the 11th- and 12th-grade Sunday school class, another challenging (and rewarding) experience! I am a HUGE Georgia Bulldog (and Redcoat Marching Band) fan and try to spend several fall Saturdays every year in God’s Country - Athens, GA! I enjoy spending time outdoors playing golf, fishing, and running. And yes, I still love music and try to participate whenever I can to play piano, French horn, drums, or guitar in my spare time - in fact, I am blessed to be able to play (along with my daughters) in our church’s Youth Praise Band! Our physician spotlight today is on Dr. John Pezold. I grew up in Austell, Georgia, the son of two public school teachers. I received a Biomolecular Science degree from Berry College and a masters degree in Neurobiology from Georgia State University. I completed my MD at Mercer University with honors and then my residency from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I am board certified in Otolaryngology. I joined Carrollton Ear, Nose and Throat in 2006 and have thoroughly e...njoyed calling Carrollton my home. My mother grew up in East Alabama, and I have extended family, including my parents, in the west Georgia area. I enjoy all aspects of ear, nose and throat surgery and have a particular interest in allergy and rhinology. My wife Nichole and I have been married for twenty years, and we have two children, Luke and Anna, who attend Carrollton City schools. I enjoy outdoor activities, fishing, golfing, and hunting, as well as reading. See more

We recently asked our doctors to tell us about themselves, and here is what Dr. Gustafson shared! I grew up in Carrollton, Georgia, but spent several years living in Europe while my dad taught graduate courses for the United States Armed Forces. I graduated from Duke University with a degree in classical studies and have maintained an interest in ancient history and archaeology but pursued my goal to become a physician at the University of Virginia followed by residency trai...ning for otolaryngology at the University of Cincinnati. After finishing residency, I decided to return home and join Carrollton Ear, Nose and Throat in 2001. I married my high school sweetheart, and we have a son and daughter who are our pride and joy. I enjoy all aspects of ear, nose and throat surgery but have a particular interest in pediatric ENT. I have a love for travel and have served on multiple medical mission trips to Nicaragua. I am a die hard Atlanta United fan and enjoy all things soccer. In addition, I am a huge Disney nerd and love to discuss Disney history and Imagineering with anyone who will listen. Fun fact: I am proud to have achieved the rank of Galactic Hero with a perfect score on the Buzz Lightyear ride at Walt Disney World. See more
