Today, we celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. His life of service, love, and leadership still strongly resonates today. May we all honor his legacy by loving and forgiving our neighbors. Love is the only force capable of transforming enemy into friend. - MLK, Jr. He who is devoid of the power to forgive, is devoid of the power to love. - MLK, Jr.

Earlier this week, we celebrated our last day of Shop With a Cop for the year. We are beyond grateful for this community who, despite the changes and unpredictability of 2020, continually showed up with generous hearts and gave for our children. Because of you, we (Carrollton Fraternal Order of Police) were able to sponsor almost 100 children this year. Also this year, thanks to COVID, we spread this event over four days. Those four days brought these children and ou...r officers joy, smiles, purpose, and love. This is why we do what we do. Our hearts are full. *** Special thanks to Century 21 Novus - Rett Harmon and Schiller Productions, LLC for always showing up, your partnerships, your dedication, and your continuous support of this program.

Carrollton Police Department is excited to announce that we are launching a *NEW* program! CPD's Law Enforcement Education Program (LEEP) is starting THIS Sunday... WHAT: CPD Law Enforcement Education Program WHEN: Sunday, December 13, 2020 @ 1:30PM WHERE: Church Without Walls - 555 Chaucer Lane, Carrollton... The goal of this course is to further educate the public on the best practices to follow when interacting with law enforcement officers. Participants will be specifically educated on the following topics: 1 - What to do if stopped by officers 2 - Recommendations when interacting with officers 3 - Understanding the police officer's perspective 4 - The consequences associated with habitual violations 5 - Understanding "totality of the circumstances" in relation to law enforcement decision making For more information about this program or inquiries about upcoming classes/locations, or if you would like to host a class, please contact the Carrollton Police Department at 770-834-4451. There is an application to attend and photo ID is required. ********Edited to clarify: By all means, this program is most definitely open to all communication. The officer who designed this program is one of the most well thought of officers in the department by the public. His vision is to educate how our decisions are made, etc., vs what is just shown though the media. His heart is 100 percent that of service. Our Citizens Police Academy is another example of a similar program; however, this is more tailored to traffic stops so everyone is on the same page. Open dialogue is ALWAYS welcome at this department. We always encourage anyone to reach out and offer opinions and experiences. By all means, come to the program or reach out anytime to meet and discuss. Our doors are always open. Come see in person.
Thanks to Flock Safety (license plate reader system), Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office was able to locate a missing person in our jurisdiction. I’ll say it again.....we are immensely grateful for a company who invests in public safety and a city who provides us with these tools. FLOCK has proven to be an invaluable asset for our city as well as many other jurisdictions throughout our state and country. For more information, please visit www.flocksafety.com.
