Castaways Pet Rescue had a fun-filled, amazing day at Moondoggy's pizza Yappy Hour yesterday. We had 5 adoptions and saw lots of wonderful pups in costume. Good times! We raised over $1,000. Special thanks to Moondoggy's, Cheddars, Misuk Robinson, and all our wonderful volunteers for your support.

Be The Solution Waycross Inc mission is to help families of low income keep their companion pets without the worry of multiple litters. Today we were part of a... team, WAGS Rescue Inc, Castaways Pet Rescue, BARC and Coastal Humane Society, that came together to help a family in a desperate situation. The rescues took 33 dogs and puppies. Be The Solution Waycross Inc will be covering the cost to spay/neuter/vaccinate the remaining 5 they are able to keep. Wags Rescue getting it done with a little help from our friends. 4 rescues came together today to help this desperate situation of 38 dogs. Well intentioned ...dog owner, but have never spayed any dog. It got out of hand quickly ! Be The Solution( Kim Harmon And Pam Paolantonia) will spay/neuter his 5 he’s keeping. Jayne Aitken Huvar( Castaways) , Wags Rescue,Inc, Barc( Lois Vassilion) and the Coastal Humane Society of Brunswick came together as one today to fix this situation and removed 32 dogs! Proud of my rescue friends who answer the call for help. The gentleman now can now keep his few dogs and not worry about producing more , ever again! See more

It seems like these situations come in 3s. We were contacted by WAGS about an out of control dog situation. 33 dogs were removed from this place yesterday. Castaways Pet Rescue took in 19 dogs in one day. It takes a village. Collaborative effort from WAGS Kathy Jones, Lois Vassillion and HS Brunswick.

Explain to me WHY this is acceptable to Departmet of Ag to pass for a kennel license...but I did not initially pass because of some WIRES HOLDING MY KENNELS TOG...ETHER COULD SCRATCH ONE OF MY DOGS!! Are you kidding me?? Wake up people...why is this allowed to continue to happen. Puppy mills are allowed to let dogs live in squaller..no hair...fleas and nasty water and my kennels don't pass!! I dont give a f*** if I never get a DOA license if this is what they allow to go on. This is Whispering Pines Kennels in Darien Ga!! Its money! Because you don't pass this and not mine for any other reason than a bunch of crooked BS going on! Something needs done. Not only to the kennel but the inspector who allowed this! I rescue dogs. I fight for them. I dedicate my life to them. I rarely put myself first. I NEVER put them last. I always try to do right by them. I am optimistic, but also realistic. I am a positive person, who has been beaten down by the negativity of the world. I am happy most days, but with a constant underlying sadness. I have opened my heart to more dogs than I can count. I bring them into my home. I return the life that was taken from them. I have accepted the craziness ...of my world. I take the insanity in stride. I have given up any hope of having a normal life or a perfectly clean house. I live each day, for the dogs. I wake up, prepared to save more. I go to sleep, thinking of those I couldn’t reach. I hate my phone it NEVER stops ringing or beeping. I answer and listen to yet another plea for a dog that no one cares about, no one will help.I look into the eyes of the neglected. I feel their pain in my own heart. I hear their silent cries. I apologize for the awful things that have happened to them. I say I’m sorry for things I didn’t do. I say, I love you, because no one else in their life ever has. I try to talk sense into senseless people. I try to educate the ignorant. I fail at these attempts on a daily basis. I can’t save them all. I can’t even save most. I live each day knowing that, no matter how hard I try, it will never be enough. I know that even when I succeed, I fail. I know that for every one I save, there’s another I lose. I know that no matter how many I help, my work is never done. Even still, I save all that I can. I love more than I thought possible. I smile because they smile. I take-on their pain, so that they may have happiness. I allow my heart to hurt, so their’s can heal. I become the one who is wounded, so they may be restored. I know the cruelty that exists. I’ve seen the faces of abuse. I witness the senselessness of the world and know that change is always just beyond my grasp I ask for help it rarely comes. I pray for hope it rarely appears. I beg for mercy it rarely arrives. I sometimes lose faith in humanity. Some days, I crawl into bed and pull the covers over my eyes. Sometimes, I sob. I hurt so much but I cry because they hurt more than I ever could. The helplessness drives me to say, I can’t Then, a foster dog’s kiss says, You can So, I get out of bed. I brush off the despair. I vow to make a difference. I do make a difference. I never give up. I fight for change each day. I pray for relief from the pain not for me, but for them. I rescue dogs. In turn, dogs rescue me. Everything in between... is so worth it. I did not write this but it is so on point.

Annabelle has a smile on her face for a good reason. She has been with Castaways since May and she finally has her forever home. Thank you First Georgia Hardware in Darien for saving her! She is one special pup!

Little Aretha might only have one eye but she doesn't let that stop her!!! She is full of piss and vinegar, as they say. She got her name because she sings!!!
