Flowing with the fishies

Catherine Elizabeth Yoga 03.11.2020

Yoga is connection, connection with yourself and with others. When was the last time you looked at someone, really looked at them, and told them they are loved and supported? When was the last time you did that for yourself? Take time to show the ones you love that you see them. Maybe today that means looking in the mirror.

There is seriously no place like hOMe! My heart is bursting with love, such a perfect way to spend Christmas Eve morning, practicing with my TT loves at @universalpoweryoga Then meditating with Susan McGarrah Bonanno at @soulspacemeditation Shout out to the best husband ever for letting me abandon him at Enterprise so I could get to class, and to my mum for letting me steal her car to get there. We really don't accomplish anything alone! #merrychristmas

Today is the shortest day of the year, the day with the most darkness, and I’m embracing the dark. This month has been busy for me, like I’m sure it’s been for you. I’ve felt the frustration of this season’s stress bubbling beneath the surface for a few weeks and yesterday it boiled over. So I took my rage to my mat. Yes, you can do that, it’s okay to be furious during a yoga practice. Being honest with yourself and working through whatever you’re feeling is what your prac...tice is for. Of course, I felt so much better after I let it go and Ivonne Cintron gave me just what I needed with a flow full of the breath of fire. Now after that release, the universe has gifted me with a short day for rest. So I’m embracing the day that the universe tells us to pause, tells us to reflect. It’s really beautiful timing - right before the holidays, a day to look back on our year before beginning anew. Embrace this day to take care of yourself so that you have more to give to your family and friends this week. . . . #wintersolstice #embracethedarkness #selflove #selfcare #namastepure #atlyoga #atlantayoga See more

It's been almost a year since I posted a blog! A LOT has happened but today I wanted to sit with the present rather than reflect on the past. Here's a little preview, thank you for listening. Mondays have become my favorite day. I practice, meditate, and write alone in my beautiful space, full of silence. True silence is so loud and wonderfully thick. Today the silence during my meditation was so thick and warm I felt I could swim in it. I've been working with stillness. Stillness, sadness, and being alone. These all sound like such negative things, but I promise they’re not...There’s so much to learn about ourselves if we are brave enough to be still. Brave enough to let our emotions take over, even if they’re sad.

It's been a long time since I cried in a yoga pose but today pigeon got me. We store so much emotion in our hips it makes sense to feel a release in this intense hip opener. As soon as I lowered my head it felt like my heart let go. I was overcome with so much gratitude. Gratitude for my amazing husband @clayragsdale who drove over an hour out of his way to bring me the yoga clothes I had forgotten at home. Gratitude for @ivonnec.miller and her wonderful class. Gratitude for @puremotionyoga_atl for welcoming me to this space and community. Gratitude for @universalpoweryoga my wonderful teachers. Gratitude for this practice, for allowing me to process and feel my emotions when they come up. #yogaismagic

What do you think when you hear "advanced yoga"? Here's a hint: it's not about the poses. Join Maria Borghoff and I on the 9th, you'll find out you're much more advanced than you knew.
