MENTOR News! Phew- what a year! You all must be wondering if and how your mentoring can continue. For now, please contact me at 678-997-1990 or [email protected] with any questions of concerns. Here is what we know: Gainesville City Schools will begin on August 17th but will have virtual classes for the first three weeks. They will welcome mentors into the school when in-person classes begin. Your point of contact is Tonya Sanders at The Hub. As always, th...e counselors at each school set the tone for mentoring; we will not know times/dates allowed until school starts. Hall County Schools will begin on August 24th but will have virtual classes for the first three weeks. They will NOT allow mentors until further notice. As always, the counselors at each school set the tone for mentoring; we will not know times/dates allowed until school starts. Special Cases: 1. REACH Mentors must, of course, meet via Skype, Zoom or text/call. Point of Contact is Meg Jett. 2. Ivester Early College Success Coaches will be allowed to Zoom through the school system. Point of Contact is Meg Jett. Center Point will be working through the schools to obtain parental permission for e-mentoring. I will be happy to help you reach your mentee in each and every case. As wonderful as technology is, it can be daunting. Please do not hesitate to ask for help. The National Mentor group (www.mentoring.org) has established guidelines for e-mentoring and we will follow and implement those practices once school begins and everything settles down. Again, thank you for all you do!!!
