The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) provides vital resources to governments, businesses and nonprofits for recovery of COVID-19 neces...sary expenses that are NOT reimbursed by any other source. Small businesses under 100 employees, arts organizations, non-profits, community assistance organizations, medical, healthcare and senior care facilities are eligible to apply for COVID-19 expenses that are not reimbursed by other sources. What expenses are covered? Personal protective equipment, sanitizing, retrofitting, renovating, telework expenses, food, rent, funeral and utility assistance, expenses related to providing testing sites, contact tracing, tests, packaging, transportation and a whole list of other things. Due to state deadlines, the turnaround for applications is extremely tight. The website, https://www.columbusga.gov/columbuscares will open Monday, August, 10 (approximately 11:30 am and remain open until August 19, 2020 at 5 PM.) The overview, FAQs, application, budget template and all other items can be found on the website. Submitted expenses will be categorized and need to be backed up with an invoice and proof of payment.
