Recognizing that healing from trauma and facing difficulties sometimes has a powerful spiritual component, one year ago CHRIS 180 expanded its services to form the Institute for Spiritual Health and Wellness. As part of the Clinical Pastoral Education program, residents serve in local hospitals and periodically, chaplain interns are assigned to different community programs within CHRIS 180. 2020 has provided students with the opportunity to connect with real members of our community, to meet them where they are and to guide them along their journey to spiritual wellness. #CHRIS180 #CPE #SpiritualHealthandWellness

As Atlanta has experienced a significant surge in food insecurity during the pandemic, organizations like Second Helpings Atlanta, Inc. have stepped up, rescuing surplus food and delivering thousands of prepared meals weekly. Through its partnership with Mercedes-Benz Stadium, CHRIS 180 receives unsold and unused food from events at the stadium. Many substance use treatment programs have closed their doors and are now relying on virtual programming. CHRIS 180's TREE House Program continues to break down barriers to meet the adolescent and young adult substance abuse treatment needs of our community. Are you looking for a virtual service opportunity to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. day? Here are two items you can make safely at home and deliver to CHRIS 180. We are always in need of hygiene kits to distribute to youth and families experiencing homelessness, who are served by our Street Outreach teams. Kits can include small items: hand soap, body wash, unused masks and hand sanitizer to slow the spread of COVID-19. You can also create no-sew, tie fleece blankets to help keep members of our community warm and safe this winter.
