It's the most wonderful time of the year - - a time for togetherness, celebration, and joy. However, for victims of domestic violence, the holidays can be a dark time as risk factors escalate, including financial strain, heightened expectations and increased alcohol consumption.
Circle of Hope is thankful that with community support we have been able to serve families in need since 1987. Giving Tuesday is a perfect day to join our efforts to support, empower and bring hope to those affected by domestic violence. Please visit GAgives.org and search for 'Circle of Hope' or visit www.gacircleofhope.org to support our mission.
Today is election day, and we are reminded that our voice matters. Yet, for victims of domestic violence, voting is more than just exercising a right. Some have privacy and safety concerns related to voter registration, while others might still live under the power and control of their abusers. Voting empowers survivors to find their voice that had been silenced.

A tote full of much needed supplies was sitting on our office porch when we arrived on this brisk Monday morning. Thank you Lisa Harders for your kindness. #RandomActsofKindness
In honor of #DVAM2020 , some of the kids in our shelter created heart shaped hand prints. Help us end the cycle of violence by donating, volunteering, or spreading awareness about domestic violence. As domestic violence awareness month comes to a close, remember that Circle of Hope is here to help. You may contact our 24 hour crisis line at 706-776-4673, our text line 706-768-1616, or our chat with us at wwww.gacircleofhope.org #DVAM2020
Halloween looked a little different this year for Circle of Hope, but still fun nonetheless. Rather than host our annual Fall Fest for all the kids in our program, we decided to fill spooky buckets full of sweet treats to ensure all the kids received something for Halloween while still practicing social distancing. Happy Halloween from all of us at Circle of Hope!
In honor of Breast Cancer & Domestic Violence Awareness Month W4 Express Car Wash is supporting Circle of Hope and the Evie Peters Foundation. Bring your kids to see the cool lights and mention the charity you're supporting when you buy any single wash between now and the end of the month and 25% will go back to the organization!
Remember the Titanic? The "unsinkable" ship sank after striking an iceberg unseen beneath the surface. Like an iceberg, there's a lot more to domestic violence than what is visible, and the consequences can be devastating for individuals, communities, and society.
In today's edition of The Northeast Georgian, Lt. Murray Kogod of the Habersham County Sheriff's Office presents his take on Domestic Violence in our community.
Today is Wear Purple Day across the nation. Circle of Hope staff proudly showing their purple to honor survivors and remember victims of domestic violence.

Stay-at-home orders, intended to protect, left many victims trapped with their abusers. Additionally, school closings and other restrictions increased stressors that could escalate or intensify the potential for violence. Though some restrictions have been lifted, many challenges remain for safe housing and other sources of support for victims.
In today's edition of The Northeast Georgian, our staff therapist shares some insight on how domestic violence affects the community at large. We encourage you to pick up a copy!
Did you know that stalking can also be a form of domestic violence? Stalking takes its toll on victims emotionally, psychologically and even financially. Stalking victims can suffer higher rates of depression, anxiety, insomnia, suicidal ideation as well as post-traumatic stress disorder. Furthermore, intimate partner stalking presents the greatest threat of harm to victims. Understanding the connections can help victims recognize the dangers of stalking related abuse and trauma.
