Our Street Department has been working diligently throughout West Bainbridge over the last few weeks and today completed the resurfacing of Conger Street. In recent weeks, the following streets have been completed: Newton Road Bethel Road Arthur Street Lark Street... Mayo Drive Parker Street Godwin Street North Street According to Public Works Director Steve Winburn, Naomi and Mills Streets will be resurfaced when the new water line is installed. We estimate that project to be completed in the next 45 days. #Tsplost

Today marks the anniversary of a day Bainbridge and Decatur County will never forget. December 7, 1946. On that day BHS lost seven students and a teacher in the Winecoff Hotel fire in Atlanta while attending a state Y Club assembly. Students Maxine Willis, Ruth Powell, Sue Brooke, Patsy Griffin, Mary Louise Murphy, Earl Carr Gragg, and Clarence Bates were some of the best and brightest representing their school and community that week. Their advisor and BHS teacher Mary Davis was with them when they perished that night. The Winecoff Hotel fire remains the deadliest hotel fire in American history and the catalyst behind many of the fire safety measures in place today. Read more here: http://ow.ly/vyNt50CEGbC
