Publix and Kroger have entered the COVID-19 vaccination arena. Publix Pharmacies have begun taking appointments to administer COVID-19 vaccinations to eligible individuals at 108 locations across Georgia. To learn more visit http://publix.com/covidvaccine. For a list of locations see https://bit.ly/39xSlCV It does appear that all of the appointment opportunties are currently booked, so they went within minutes of the portal opening. We do not know the cadence of appointmen...ts being made available, how many per day each location will offer, etc., so you will have to keep checking their site. Kroger has also announced that "select pharmacies" are able to offer limited quantities of vaccinations by appointment in Georgia. Unfortunately, they do not have a simple list of those "select pharmacies" but you can get more information and check if the Kroger near you is participating by visiting https://www.kroger.com/i/coronavirus-update/pharmacy We will keep watching for additional opportunities to get the vaccine and will pass those along as we find out about them.

Would you like to assist with the COVID-19 vaccine rollout or other aspects of the fight against COVID-19? The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is receiving offers from medical professionals and other individuals looking for ways to help with the COVID-19 response. An effective response relies on volunteers who are pre-credentialed and organized. Georgia Responds is Georgia’s health and medical volunteer program which matches the skills and credentials of medical and... nonmedical volunteers to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in Georgia. Medical volunteers may be used to answer medical questions coming into the COVID-19 hotline, assist at test specimen collection sites, etc. Nonmedical volunteers may be used in administrative roles at either the call-center or test collection sites, or provide interpretation or other skills as needed. To volunteer, log on to https://dph.georgia.gov/georgia-responds and click on the Register Now box. Registering only takes a few minutes. Prospective volunteers will be asked for their name, address, contact information and occupation type. In order to be eligible for some assignments, responders are encouraged to complete a profile summary, which includes skills and certifications, training, medical history, emergency contact and deployment preferences. Once your skills and credentials are reviewed, you will be notified by a DPH representative. ___________________________________________________________ NOTE: This volunteer effort is a program of the Georgia Department of Public Health, not the City of Alpharetta. The City does not have additional information about the program and is unable to answer questions about it. If you have questions about the City's School Speed Zone Camera Enforcement Program, please view this video that was relased back in February 2020 as the program was being introduced. It explains the basics of the program. The program was instituted to protect Alpharetta's students from a high number of drivers who were dangerously speeding through school zones. During a study conducted in six Alpharetta school zones 3,557 drivers were found to be traveling in excess of 11 miles per hour over the posted speed limit while the school zones were active. The sample, which was taken during a nine-hour period in April 2019, found that more than 54% of violators were traveling at least 15 miles per hour over the posted speed limit with 14.2% exceeding the speed limit by 20 to 24 miles per hour.

Great news! The utility installation along the section of the AlphaLoop between Haynes Bridge Road and Park Street is nearly complete, and the path will reopen by Monday.
