Join #Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch as she leads a virtual discussion about COVID-19 vaccines during her next Mayor’s Meetup on December 15 at 7 p.m. via Zoom and Facebook Live. Mayor Deutsch will be joined by Dr. Ruth Karron, who heads the Center for Immunization Research at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Dr. Vik Kapil, Georgia Department of Public Health Medical Director and Director of Health Protection. I’m so grateful to Dr. Karron and Dr. Kapil ...for joining us at this important period in the pandemic, said Mayor Deutsch. Understanding how these vaccines were developed and how they’ll be distributed are critical to supporting the rollout and saving lives. Discussion topics will include the following: positive case trends and testing, vaccine trials and safety data, vaccine distribution plans and best practices. The more we know, the more confidence we’ll have in the process, added Deutsch. Vaccines are key to getting back to school, back to work and back to the things we love and enjoy together. Members of the community are invited to tune in on Dec. 15 using this Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83040747851. They can also watch the Meetup live on the City’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/cityofdunwoody. Questions in advance are encouraged and can be shared by emailing [email protected].

With a unanimous vote last night, the #Dunwoody City Council approved $150,000 in CARES Act funding for the city’s new Al Fresco Matching Grant Program, which provides grants to local businesses that want to begin or expand outdoor operations. Restaurants and other businesses can use the grants to help with the costs of space heaters, tents, exterior lighting or other needs to prepare for winter and address customer demand for outdoor services in response to the COVID-19 pand...emic. This focuses on helping employers keep people employed and their doors open, said Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch during Monday night’s meeting. Dunwoody City Councilman Joe Seconder added, This is just awesome and could be a differentiator by creating an environment where everywhere you go for dinner in Dunwoody, you’ll have a nice, warm place to sit outside. The application for the Al Fresco Matching Grant is available online. The funding match is 50 percent, and the maximum amount of reimbursement per business is $5,000. Applications will be reviewed by the Dunwoody Economic Development Department. More + link: https://bit.ly/3lhRkDN See more
