Friends of the City Cemeteries Meeting Our next meeting will be Monday, February 1st, at 5:30 PM at the Villa Rica Library. We will be discussing upcoming projects at all three cemeteries. Love The Locals campaign begins February 1-28, 2021!! Villa Rica Main Street staff will be around town next week to drop off some entry forms to get you started.... Please remember you are encouraged to copy and print additional forms when you run out. I have attached the entry form to this post. You can also find the form on our website at http://downtownvillarica.com/love-the-locals/. We had over 800 entries for the Shop Small VR promotion in November with over $50,000 spent in downtown and at other Main Street Business Members JUST from entries that were turned in. Let's get over 1000 entries in February!! *Reminder* The Main Street and Tourism office is currently under construction and staff is temporarily located at the Villa Rica Library. 2021 Daddy-Daughter Masquerade Ball The Daddy-Daughter Dance will be held at the Villa Rica Sports Complex (V-Plex) on Friday & Saturday, February 12th & 13th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Registration fee is $30 per couple and $15 for each additional person. Those who register by January 15th will receive a complimentary face mask. You must pre-register at Gold Dust Park. Limit 50 person per dance due to COVID-19. First come, first served with advance tickets. Come dance the night away and enjoy a magical evening of memories along with great food and an opportunity to win some awesome prizes! BOIL WATER NOTICE Locations Affected: Rivercliff Lane, Mist Court, Cascade Trail, Hilltop Drive, and the following locations on Liberty Road: 3610, 3600, 3590, 3580, 3495, 3486, and 3428 On 12/29/20 a water main was broken and is causing water pressure in parts of the water system to drop to dangerously low levels. When this occurs a potential health hazard may exist in these areas of zero pressure from backflow and/or back-siphonage of water of unknown quality into the water... distribution system. In order to protect the public from a potential health hazard, all citizens that have experienced water outages and/or low water pressures are advised to boil all water prior to use for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food. The water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil. Citizens should continue to boil their water until they are notified by their drinking water utility that the water system has been restored to full operation, and that the microbiological quality of the water in the distribution system is safe for human consumption. Friends of the City Cemeteries Monthly Meeting The next meeting of the Friends of the City Cemeteries is scheduled for Monday, November 2 from 5:30 - 6:45 pm at the Villa Rica Public Library. Our meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 5:30 pm the library at this time. Membership Dues are $20 annually.... Our next projects involve brick repairs (minor repairs) at Hillcrest Cemetery and plaque replacements at Garden of Rest Cemetery. Volunteer Opportunities with the Cemetery Friends include clean-up and gardening, preservation (repairing and cleaning tombstones) and researching family history. We hope that you will join us on Monday, November 2 at 5:30 pm at the library. Below are a few of the gardening projects that we have completed at both of the cemeteries.
