When asked about her experience in this major she said, Being an undergraduate SLP student here at the University of West Georgia has been such an amazing experience. There have been endless opportunities here for my personal and professional growth, like being a student assistant for three semesters. I have also thoroughly enjoyed being a mentor for the SLP Juniors! Working with my three mentees has been such an honor! Lastly, the faculty of the speech-language pathology program have been so kind and helpful to us as students. UWG is a great place to learn and grow! - - - - We are so proud of our students like Kaylee. Today marks the beginning of Black History Month. Throughout the month, we will be featuring Black alumni of #UWG who have made history, the first of which is t...he iconic Lillian Williams '67 '72. --- Lillian Williams paved the way for generations of Black students and alumni at UWG when she enrolled as the first African-American student at West Georgia College in 1963. She later became the first Black UWG graduate, earning a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1967 and a master’s degree in elementary education in 1972. Lillian was a beloved educator having taught in Carroll County for over 30 years. She was not only dedicated to teaching her students, but she also dedicated her life to educating her own children so they were better equipped to persevere through racial oppression. Learn more about Lillian's life and legacy here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkLdpUjv4Wg --- Follow the University of West Georgia this month for stories of Black students and recent graduates who are making history.
