One of my first jobs was working as a community organizer to help poor people in Chicago. I became a U.S. Senator from Illinois. I was the first African American to be elected President of the United States. Who am I? #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackHistoryIsAmericanHistory
I overcame a very hard childhood to become a famous writer. I wrote a book about myself called I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. I read a poem about America at the swearing-in ceremony for President Bill Clinton. Who am I? #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackHistoryIsAmericanHistory
