Slowing down, moving over AND driving sober are such an important part of keeping first responders, incident responders (tow trucks, HERO/CHAMP Units, etc) and utility workers safe while they do their jobs. #moveoverlaw #slowdown #drivesober
Chris received a special visit today on his special day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS!
Lots of interesting discussion around our burn ban post yesterday! For those who may be thinking of "burning anyway," a few reminders ... under Georgia law O.C....G.A. 12-6-90, it’s a misdemeanor to burn without a permit or GFC notification (ag), which means you can be arrested and prosecuted, with a maximum possible sentence of 12 months in jail and a $1000 fine. Suppression charges would apply if a wildfire results from an illegal fire, O.C.G.A. 12-6-21 (you'd get a bill for all time our people and equipment use to contain your fire if it escapes). If the fire escapes onto the property of another, that would be a violation of O.C.G.A. 16-7-63, which is another misdemeanor with the same maximum penalties. Then you can add in criminal/civil liability for the fire/smoke, and any damages or injuries/deaths that could occur from an illegal act. Example: if an illegal fire burns a structure, or smoke from an illegal fire causes an automobile accident, the person burning could be held responsible. Bottom line: it is illegal, with criminal and civil penalties that could become severe, and it’s just not worth the risk. BOIL WATER ADVISORY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE The City of Commerce is under a boil water advisory and affects customers that have city water. The Banks Crossing area is NOT included in the advisory. Updates will be posted at www.commercega.org and Commerce Main Street facebook page and from our automated call out system. Also for further information you may call 706-335-3164. Bring water to a rolling boil for one minute and allow to cool before consuming.
March 19, 2020 Out of consideration for our customers who are older or may have compromised immune systems, we kindly ask our customers to consider shopping aft...er 8:00 AM, to allow these dear folks to shop first between the hours of 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM. We know that everyone has different circumstances, so we are simply making a neighborly request. We appreciate your continued support and know that we will get through this together. Let us all continue to pray for our communities, state, nation, and world as we deal with the unknowns in the days ahead. Verlin Reece President
For the past 43 years we have held our annual fundraiser during the month of April. This year our annual Chicken Que has been postponed. We will miss seeing everyone coming through the lines to pick up your plates. Should we reschedule we will let you know. We would like to thank all of you that have supported us over the past years. Take care of your family during these troubling times. God Bless. Chief Kevin Dean
