Look at what God is doing through our church family to make a difference in the lives of children in foster care! Debbie, a single foster mom, said yes to welcoming in a 16 year old young man with severe disabilities this past weekend. When he arrived with his case worker he had no wheelchair, no supplies, and no equipment to make life manageable for him and for Debbie as she cares for him. During her weekly check-in call with the team leader of the Care Team that supports h...er family, Debbie shared all that was going on. Within a couple of days, through the church and supporting ministries, two of the spoken needs were met; a wheelchair and a shower seat, and when a group of men at our Statesboro Campus heard about this young man, they rallied the troops, and are building her a wheelchair accessible ramp off her porch. How amazing is the body of Christ? This is one of the reasons we feel so strongly that every fostering family should have a Care Team surrounding them. Not everyone is going to foster or adopt, but there IS something that EVERY PERSON can do to make a difference in the life of a child in care! Sometimes that looks like picking up a hammer, or picking up and dropping off a wheelchair. We are so grateful for this Care Team and many others like it, who each week are providing a circle of support through prayer, and tangible expressions of love to families just like Debbie’s!
