Happy Holidays! Please stay safe and diligent in minimizing spread of COVID. I am providing teleconferencing, but open to safe in person practice in 2021. Keep humming and doing all those things that help your true voice come out!

For the first time in my new home office, and first time since pre-COVID19 (February) I have a live person in my office for treatment. It is such a joy and freedom AND we don't have to wear masks for protection because she recovered from COVID, testing positive for antibodies. Oh how I have missed live therapy. I can do it masked but it wouldn't be as freeing. May she find her real true voice since botox no longer works after 15 years.

Hello all, so it's been a few minutes since I checked in, so I just wanted to assure all of you I am still here and in business in Atlanta. COVID has really put a dent in business and I have not had a live person in my office since February, BUT, I am doing teleconferences and find them to be effective. Just like all of you, I am trying to hang in there!

If you get a chance, go to Dysphonia.org and access the webinar by Christie DeLuca - she was my client many years ago and she decided to become an SLP. She is wonderful and I hope to pass the torch to her one day.

March 2020: A time the world will always remember, a challenging time, a new normal for a time-frame that is yet to be determined. May we diligently practice social distancing by less physical contact, but may we all learn new ways of connecting virtually. I realize that those with SD have difficulty with the phone and perhaps teleconferencing but we do need to stay in touch and participate with others. Let us pray for those affected, either by physical illness or financial challenge. Let us ride this storm and come out with our war stories and tales of triumph! I am still open for business, but teleconference only at this time. Email me [email protected] for more information.

I published my 2nd book in 2010. A lot of people are still reading it, as well as my first one published in 2005. I’ve been procrastinating writing book 3 as it is SO MUCH TIME AND WORK. Starting a new book is challenging. But as I was meditating this morning, I had an idea. I can update the 2nd book, and create a 2nd version that would be an update not requiring a new book from scratch. Not a bad goal for 2020!

There is something to this - and I love that it does not involve drugs or surgery. I use a Homedics mini-massager with many of my patients, but have not tried longer sessions. It is positioned precisely where these electrodes are!

I had laryngitis last week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I realized you can't hum very well, you can't kazoo and talking is really hard: BUT, it is not a regression of SD. It is swollen vocal folds from a virus or infection so you just hydrate a lot, look for and find your hum, speak quietly and gently and your voice comes back. So thankful it comes back.

I had the extreme pleasure of lunch with Diane - featured in the videos on this page, TODAY! We ate in a very noisy restaurant, talked in the car, shared stories of our grown children, and more. Diane sounds even better now than in the video. She wanted to have an hour appointment because she felt she was holding back and quiet, unlike her previously loud and boisterous voice was. We worked on vocal energies and how to access power to turn on a bolder voice when needed. Nothing compares to the upside of someone with a serious voice disorder who has conquered it. It affirms that this work matters and how amazing the brain is. It is not a vocal fold problem, it is a brain problem, so neuroplasticity is the key.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer full of adventure. It is moving fast. Trying to renovate a house and help my daughter plan her wedding. Lots of opportunity for talking! Actively seeing clients, both individual consultations in Atlanta and via teleconference where allowed by law. Welcoming new clients!
