A Cornerstone family started JMAM Ministries to bring the gospel to families around the world. This ministry hand-sewed and donated over 160 masks so that our students could share them with the residents of a local assisted living facility, Ivy Hall. First grade students creatively wrapped donated masks for the residents and even included homemade candy cane ornaments for each resident. What a wonderful service partnership!

The Atlanta Zoo Mobile came to visit the Lower School today! Carlos (the tortoise), Finnigan (the armadillo), and Nanda (the skink) made special guest appearances. The students loved meeting the animals and learning about their special animal adaptations.

Special thanks to Regina Owenby for the great pictures! Praying we're able to have this program as normal next year.
See Cornerstone's Lower School students perfom songs of thanksgiving and hear from our families on why they love being part of the Cornerstone family.

Huge thank you to Brett Davis for the fantastic pictures. The cast did a wonderful job tonight. Special thanks to Cornerstone parent, Brant McCaskill, and Josh Whitlock for spearheading the live streaming effort. Believe it or not one person, Mr. McCaskill, was running all of those cameras!
Due to Covid-19, in lieu of a live speaker, we asked a few veterans with ties to Cornerstone to share some thoughts with our students. Thank you so much for your service and your words!
Everything looked and felt much different than usual, but we were grateful to celebrate our Veterans today. We look forward to next year when (hopefully) we'll be able to offer our full program.
Join us for the livestream event of Cornerstone's fall musical, The Sound of Music, on Friday, November 6 at 7 pm. Host a watch party and invite your friends and family to watch with you! You won't want to miss this production of one of the most beloved musicals of all time. We hope to "see" you there! CORNERSTONECOUGARS.ORG/SOM
Mrs. Dunlap's 6th grade world history classes are delving into ancient Egypt. In order to understand the elevation variations of Upper and Lower Egypt, they created salt dough maps of the ancient Nile river valley civilization. They have also been learning about the amazing achievements of the ancient Egyptians, including the four-sided pyramid. Students participated in a pyramid building contest using toothpicks and marshmallows to gain an appreciation for the precision and knowledge needed to build these extraordinary monuments to the pharaohs. Each pyramid, some still in existence after thousands of years, took many thousands of ancient Egyptian farmers to build. Each pyramid, three still in existence after an hour, took 2-3 Cornerstone students 15 minutes to build.

Some of our 3rd and 4th graders had the opportunity to Zoom with a microbiologist from Georgia Tech today. Dr. Lewin is currently researching bacteria that leads to cavities and gum disease. The students were extremely interested to learn that there are over 3 billion bacteria in our mouths! Thank you Dr. Lewin for providing such a wonderful learning experience for our students and for answering the long list of questions from our aspiring scientists.
First grade students learned about voting today by hosting their very own election! They transformed their classrooms and voted on which cookie tasted the best. They had to register to vote, go to their polling place and cast their ballot for the tastiest cookie.
Third grade "Cornerstone doctors" performed character analysis surgery today! They put on gloves, masks and protective gear to determine character traits using dialogue, feelings and actions.
Kindergarten celebrated fall by going to the "Pumpkin Patch" today. They took a special trip to the PCBC Fields and participated in a variety of fun fall activities including a corn maze, wagon ride, pictures with a scarecrow, pumpkin ring toss and a yummy tasting of apple cider. Alexander Glover's '19 Halloween Light show (about 3 minutes or so) runs between now and Halloween - 7:00-9:15 each night. Tune your radio station to 87.9 FM. I asked Alexander why he did this, "2020 has been a rough year and I wanted to brighten others' days with a fun light show." I don't want to put his exact address out there on facebook, but if you know the Glovers, you know they moved recently. If you are out and about, swing by it's sure to put a smile on your face.
