Mrs. Martin's Second Grade 05.02.2021

Hunter Meadors is the recipient of the Steak Award. Hunter transferred to Commerce this year after we had already gotten into our routine. Transitions can be hard sometimes at this age; however, Hunter took pride in his school work and wanted to have his completed on time. His hard work paid off! He consistently turned in quality work. This work ethic did not slow down during virtual learning. Hunter turned in his work on time every week, including required quality writing assignments. I’m very proud of you, Hunter!

The Puzzle Award goes to Zoey Reece. Zoey was the last student to join our class in mid-January, but you would never know it after a day or two. Zoey’s upbeat, bubbly personality made her easy to love, and we couldn’t ask for a better fit for our school family. We could tell right away she was a carer, sharer, and a rare find in the middle of the school year. We are very glad she joined us!

The Ice Cream Award goes to Maddie Saylors. Believe it or not, second grade is where girl drama begins these days...but this sweet, easy-going, thoughtful girl NEVER once had an unkind word to say about anyone. She was always willing to help others, share her supplies, and lend a hand to complete classroom tasks. She was always considerate of others when working in small groups. We were certainly blessed by her warm-hearted compassion this year.

The Melon Award goes to Piper McLane. Piper is very mature and well rounded for her age. She is a hard worker, a class leader, and a good friend. She does not mind standing up for her beliefs, herself or for others. She always takes her time to do her best on assessments even if she’s the last one to finish. This perseverance, indifference to peer pressure, and patience always pays off for Piper. She’s a wonderful student to have in the classroom.

The TACO Award goes to Lena Mattox. Lena is always so caring and concerned. Her little mama fix-it-now outlook would always kick in when she noticed a friend being upset or uncharacteristically quiet. She would go right to them to talk about whatever was bothering them, and she would quickly remind them that everything would be ok. How lucky we were to have someone who could turn lemons into lemonade this year.

No one should be surprised that Payten Hollis is the winner of The Sugar Award! Payten is full of sweetness! She is cares about others and is very kind to her classmates. She treats others with respect and is always ready to lend a helping hand. Every class is lucky if they have a student like Payten.
