Let’s talk about: Holy crap!! I gained 4 pounds in one day!! ... Has this ever happened to you?? Why does this happen?? Simple: water weight (and sometimes food that hasn’t been expelled yet) (I know this is a little bit to read, but knowledge is power and we need that power over our scale anxiety!!) But here’s the science behind it so that you can stop cussing your scale and in turn start a healthier relationship with yourself and your scale! I’m kind of a list person, so here’s a list of things to know! 1st things 1st: I’m going to assign an average daily calorie amount to this scenario. Let’s use 2,000 calories. This is my hypothetical designated calorie amount that I can eat every day and still maintain my current body weight. **(This is a number that is different for everyone and easy to calculate, I’m just using 2,000 for simple math) 2nd: 1 pound of body fat is 3,500 calories. 3rd: With the knowledge of these facts, we can then say that it would take me ingesting 5,500 calories (my allotted 2,000 + 3,500) in one day to gain 1 pound of body fat. 4th: This can certainly be done, but you’d have to overeat a good bit and you’ll certainly feel icky and full if you know what I mean. 5th: Yes, 1 pound in a day might be doable, but let’s do the math on 4 pounds. That would be 3,5000 x 4. And don’t forget to add the 2,000 cal daily allotment. That’s a total of 16,000 calories. That’s what you’d have to eat in one day to gain 4 pounds. (Not doable. I don’t think so anyway ) 6th: Weight is put on gradually over time. When you see those big jumps in your scale in one day, just know that it’s physically impossible to have gained 4 pounds of actual fat (adipose tissue) in one day. Water comes and goes a whole lot easier than fat weight does. Comment below if you can relate!!! Much love! #knowledgeispower
