Once you join a place like CrossFit Ransom, you have opted in to working hard. You have demonstrated you aren't afraid to put in hard work, sweat a bunch, pick up heavy things, and push yourself to the edges of your potential. And that is an amazing accomplishment. You are on the way to a better you and a better life... But if you aren't paying attention to your recovery, you aren't making the gains you could be. These 10 risk factors all go up (on average about 50% higher th...an people who get more than 7 hours of sleep) for folks who don't get enough sleep: Heart Attack Coronary Heart Disease Stroke Asthma COPD Cancer Arthritis Depression Chronic Kidney Disease Diabetes Not a list you want associated with your lifestyle choices. You are also way more likely to be obese, physically inactive, and and a smoker if you don't sleep 7+ hours. And get this: Newton, Rockdale, Walton, Morgan and any county that touches any of those are all in the HIGHEST bracket of populations that don't get enough sleep. Almost half the population doesn't get 7 hours or more of sleep. And this doesn't even factor in sleep quality... If you are willing to work hard at the gym, commit to putting in some effort to get better at sleep. It has been demonstrated to help people lean out (aka look better naked), have less stress, perform better, and report higher levels of life satisfaction. If you only sleep 5 hours a night, try and get 5 and a half. If you sleep 6 and a half, get 6:45. Gradually work your way towards more sleep. Once we get there, we can play with how to sleep better and really crush it! (All sleep data provided by the CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/sleep/data_statistics.html)
