Some online fun for those of us still stuck at home.

I apologize in advance for the long post. Sewing for Middle Georgia (https://www.facebook.com/groups/658755918273559) is involved with making face masks for healthcare workers and first responders in the middle Georgia area. As a collective, we have delivered thousands of masks to hospitals, medical offices, police and fire departments, DFACS, nursing homes, and clinics. This does not include masks also given to friends and family, coworkers, etc. All of our time, talents, a...nd materials are donated. We do not sell or promote the sale of face masks. I would like to thank those of you who have participated in this endeavor, whether through sewing or donation of time or materials, and those of you that are making masks for others or helping in other ways. THANK YOU! This fight is not over. At this point we still have requests for over 5,000 masks, and that request list grows every day. We are concentrating first on healthcare requests and we are working only with an official contact from each facility to avoid duplication or delivery of the wrong types of masks, etc. Houston Healthcare has reached a comfortable level and is not requesting masks at this time (this will probably change in the future), but Navicent overall has around 6,800 employees and they have gone to universal masking in the hospital, which means they also need masks for patients. Navicent has only received about 4,000 masks. They have requested 4,000 more to cover staff and to begin covering patients. This will probably be an ongoing request, as masks may wear out and need to be replaced, and patient masks will go home with them when they leave the hospital. I would ask that if you have the time and the inclination, you consider joining this effort. We have no-contact drop-off locations, so you would not be exposed to contact with other people, and we are starting to cut and provide kits for sewing the masks (except for thread), so you would not have a cost of materials (unless you would like to donate from your stash). Patterns and instructional videos are available on the Sewing for Middle Georgia FB group page. If you can't/don't want to sew, we can also use cutters and runners or donations of materials (1/4 or 1/8 inch elastic and strap materials are in short supply right now). Every little bit helps, so even if you can only help make a few masks, or donate an odd package of elastic, bias tape, or T-shirt yarn, that would be a few more people protected. If you are outside of the middle Georgia area, Sewing Masks for Area Hospitals (SMAH) is our sister group that started in the Atlanta Area and we now have subgroups all over the state and a few in bordering states
