The CDC Office of AMD has released a COVID-19 Genomic Epidemiology Toolkit to help epidemiologists apply genomic data to state and local investigations and track SARS-CoV-2 strains circulating in their jurisdictions. The toolkit consists of modular video presentations, audio transcripts, case studies, scientific narratives, examples/templates, job aids, reference documents, external links, etc. The first phase of the toolkit includes three modules that introduce genomic epidemiology, with specific reference to the genome of SARS-CoV-2. In 2018, CSTE began to support hurricane crisis relief projects in the U.S Virgin Islands, providing expedited procurement of technical expertise to the USVI Department of Health in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. We’d like to congratulate CSTE staff member Jessica Arrazola for earning the Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) with a national high score this spring! Jessica is a senior program analyst whose work is focused on building capacity for the applied epidemiology workforce, and developing and implementing programs on scientific writing, informatics, mentorship, and leadership. The MCHES credential sets the national standard for experienced health education specialists, with successful candidates passing an exam to verify competency in seven areas of responsibility.
