People bring us all kinds of different parts and projects to work on. Sometimes those parts just need to be cleaned up and repaired, while other times we get to design, and then fabricate or machine apart into existence. But in everything we do there is always one common thread, and that is attention to detail. This multi-angled collar is an excellent example of a piece full of small, but important details. Today's part is pretty tricky! Over the past couple of months, we have shared quite a few parts that were made out of UHMW. Today's part looks on the surface to fall right in with the others, but it's actually made out of Delrin! Delrin is known for being highly wear resistant, having a low friction coefficient, and for working well in a wide temperature range. It's also worth noting that it pairs well with other polymers and even metal. This particular part is called a carrier rapid brake and we made it for our friends over at the local Perdue plant. Just another fun example of the endless list of things that can be made from modern high-tech polymers! If there is something you need help with, just reach out and let us know!

Sometimes you have a part that maybe isn't super complex to make, but it needs to be precise and well made. That way you not only get back running faster, but also stay running longer! A perfect example of that is this aluminium printer head-gear spacer that we made for our good friends over at Pactiv. Not wild and complicated like some things we make, but it needed to be right the first time and work without surprises. UHMW plastic is something we work with a lot here at C&T. Not only is it durable, but it is also cost effective and easy to machine. This is a short clip of our guys making some latches for one of our clients on our Haas Machine. It's pretty fun to watch the latch take shape from the block of UHMW.
