Our deepest sympathies extend to our neighboring Chattooga County Sheriff's Office for the loss of Captain Eddie Stroup. Our agency formed a relationship with him many years ago and through those years understood that he was a great man with a kind soul. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at Chattooga during this difficult time.

A glimpse of a day with the Davis School SRO. School Resource Officer Deputy Cloud toured a Pre-K class during Community Helper Day. The tour is to explain what officers do and how we help our community; and of course so the kids can see the cool blue lights! Fine work by our Davis SRO!

We have been preparing four new cadets to become certified peace officers. Over the past several weeks, our cadets have trained each day through physical fitness, firearms training, interpersonal communications, situational awareness, vehicle pull overs, building clearings, and community out reach. Our cadets have worked in the Detention (Jail) facility and were selected by our administration to become certified deputies. We wanted to share a glimpse of their journey with th...e public, for these officers will soon be protecting Dade County. The cadets are currently in their first week of an eleven week mandate course. Sheriff Ray Cross adds that he is honored to have men and women step up during these difficult times, wanting to serve their communities. A huge thank you goes out to the Instructors and Deputies who assisted with this training along with the Trenton Police Department and use of their facilities.

NATIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH The month of October was originally established as the Day of Unity for domestic violence in 1981. National and State services have come a long way since then. In 1994, the Violence Against Women Act was passed and helped establish practices and procedures to assist women who were victimized through domestic violence. We know that domestic violence does not discriminate; regardless of gender and economic status. Our Office responds to domestic incidents almost on a daily basis. There are resources and services in our region who specialize in domestic crisis. If you or someone you know is in a domestic crisis, please reach out. Call our office or the other listed numbers and start the process of getting help today.
