Too beautiful not to share! For all of you dance Moms... and anyone that doubts what dance can do for your child whether they make a career of it or not! If you give a girl a tutu, she will want ballet shoes to go with it.... You’ll buy her the best leotard you can find, and then she will want tap shoes, tights and dance shorts too. Then, she will probably spend hours begging you to watch her dance, even though you may want to sit on the couch and watch tv. She will insist. And her insistence will win. And when a girl gets a tutu, she will need warm-ups and leotards and a mat to tumble on... And a TEAM.. And then life as you know it will end. There will be no more lazy weekends watching tv. You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible. Every spare minute of your time will be spent hauling costumes and bags. Cleaning dirty tights and driving crazy dancers all over tarnation for hours to practice for competition. THE COMPETITION! And your house will be a mess. And your car will be dirty. All because you gave a girl a tutu. Her weekends will be spent gaining confidence and friends, and learning new skills and having fun and getting a little tougher. So tough in fact you may have a hard time recognizing your little girl anymore. And you will be there the day she hits her stunt, and the first time she competes or saves a move, and the first time she finally lands her cartwheel. And she will make you SO proud. The other moms will congratulate you. But you feel weird saying thank you because it's not you in the air or on the ground. It's everything her. She did this! And right before your eyes, your little girl will be transformed from the baby who played with dolls, into a dancer who plays hard and works even harder. And she will still love your attention! When you give a girl a tutu, you give her more than just a skirt. You give her a sport, a talent, hopes, dreams, friends, and a new family. A place to learn about life, room to grow as a person, she now enjoys pushing her limits. Bravery, courage, LIFE, and memories. And she will have ALL of these things, simply because you gave a girl a tutu. And because you gave a girl a tutu, you too will develop new friendships, developed solely from the same passion and love of your team. You will root together, you will hold your breath together.
