#SCAMALERT There have been multiple reports today from citizens who received a call from a scammer stating that there was a warrant out for their arrest. The scammer also asked that they make some form of payment to avoid being arrested. DCSO will NOT call to inform you that you have a warrant! Please spread the word so your loved ones do not fall for this!

While investigating a case of fraudulent prescriptions, the Crime Suppression Unit responded to the parking lot of Goodwill. During the subsequent investigation, the suspect fled on foot but was detained after a brief chase. The arrest by the Crime Suppression Unit resulted in investigators seizing 184 tabs of LSD along with some liquid LSD. The suspect has been charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance with intent to distribute, Obstruction of an Officer... and Drug Related Objects. Your Dawson County Sheriff's Office enjoyed being with the PBIS Award Winners from Robinson Elementary School this afternoon. Two students from each grade level were awarded for good behavior and conduct, and as part of that award, they spent some time with DCSO. We were able to show off our HEAT Unit, introduce them to members of our SWAT Team and the equipment they utilize, let them meet several of our K9 officers and our show off our drone program. In 2008, Aleisha was hired on as a communications officer to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office. Her work within this component and other areas of the SO proved her to be an excellent leader, with dedication to her work. This past December, Aleisha accepted a position as the Deputy Director of the Georgia Emergency Communications Authority segment of Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency. While we hate to see her go, we are incredibly proud of her accompli...shments and wish her success in this new position. With that being said, we are excited to announce our new Director of Communications, Kristan Bean. Kristan brings nearly 20 years of communications experience to the position, having been the Assistant Director of our 911 Center since 2017. We have the utmost confidence in her ability to lead this component and take it to new heights. Within this transition, we are proud to announce Mindi Carder, previously a supervisor within our center, as our new Assistant Director of Communications. You may have noticed heavy officer presence downtown this morning, which was due to the search for a man who fled from a traffic stop that occurred last night. Deputies were able to locate and apprehend him behind the Food Lion, within the past hour. He will be receiving multiple charges, to include, fleeing and attempting to elude, possession of a controlled substance, obstruction of an officer and burglary. #WeAreDCSO #NewsAlert
