The fundraising effort to preserve the NAS Atlanta archives and create an educational program continues. We are getting there but we still need donations to reach the goal. Today I share with you a photo from 1951, by then the base became a Reserve Base. The photo shows an instructor teaching the "Weekend Warriors" in front of a TBF. Once the project is completed, the objective of the foundation is to develop an historical guided tour at PDK and author a book about NAS Atlanta and its legacy. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic health emergency throughout the country and the world. We find it necessary but unfortunate to cancel our June 6, 2020, Open House & Air Show. As a reminder to all users of PDK Airport, our ATC hours have changed slightly. Currently, ATC will be operating from 7am-10pm. Also please note that the frequency for pilot controlled lighting while ATC Tower is closed is 120.0 Thanks to all and please be safe!

DeKalb Implements ‘Socially Distant Service Delivery’ Strategy County restricts public access to county facilities DECATUR, Ga.In order to protect county workers from the spread of COVID-19, DeKalb County will restrict access to all government buildings and facilities to the public starting Monday, March 16. ... We are implementing a ‘socially distant service delivery’ strategy to protect our employees from the spread of the virus so that DeKalb County can continue to provide essential services to our customers, DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond said. While physical access to county facilities will be restricted to the general public, county services will still be available. The county has made it possible for its customers to engage with any department they would normally have a face-to-face encounter with via email, telephone, standard mail delivery, and any other electronic platform available to the county. We are following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other federal and state agencies to limit contact between people as a means of protecting public health, CEO Thurmond said. DeKalb County Government remains open for business, CEO Thurmond said. We will continue to offer a high level of services and support for DeKalb County.
