Parents and Swimmers, WE DID IT! With less than half the number of swimmers in the water, the Douglas County Stingrays took 2nd place behind host team, the Columbus Hurricanes, and ahead of 3rd place team, the Carrollton Bluefins, at the 2017 SouthWest Divisional Championship. The top three:... 1st place Columbus Hurricanes (100+ swimmers) 7069.5 points 2nd place DCS (50 swimmers) 4152.5 points 3rd place Carrollton Bluefins (100+ swimmers) 3220 points Thank you parents and swimmers for committing your time to this championship meet; we could not have accomplished this feat without your support! This 2nd place win was truly a team effort. Every swimmer who stayed and competed in the finals and / or a relay added to our team total. Every parent that contributed an extra day or some extra hours at the event helped immensely towards our team goal. And every swim by our 10 & Under athletes in the afternoon sessions secured our position! Finally, the cheers from the stands and the pool deck motivated our swimmers every time they took the blocks. DCS appreciates all of you and your dedication to our organization. Congratulations to every DCS swimmer as EVERYONE DROPPED TIME in one or more of their events! And now for some impressive stats: Twenty-nine DCS swimmers placed in the TOP 20 points earners in EVERY AGE GROUP. Congrats to Danielle Melilli, Chelsie Denton, Jaia Brinson, Lauryn Florentino, Ryan Jackson, Zach Camp, Malique Brinson, Michael Tappler, Jacob Gurley, Zach Martin, Madison McAuliff, Charlie Bartlett, Na'im Foster, Eduardo Lozano, Elissa Noles, Paige Quincy, Elijah Noles, Anna Bartlett, Brooke Alexander, Jenna Hohman, Sophia Noles, Bryson Howard, Shu'aib Foster, Damon Crayton, Austin Quincy, Bailey Oliver, KJ Rio, Jude Noles and Robert Scott. Seven DCS swimmers placed in the TOP 3 points earners for their age group. Congrats to Danielle Melilli, Ryan Jackson, Anna Bartlett, Bryson Howard, Elissa Noles, Elijah Noles, Charlie Bartlett Four DCS swimmers won the HIGH POINTS SCORER for their age group. Congrats to Danielle Melilli, Bryson Howard, Elissa Noles, and Charlie Bartlett One DCS swimmer was the 3rd Highest Points Scorer of the entire meet! Congrats to Charlie Bartlett. We want to send a special thank you to the following swimmers who truly "went the extra mile" by competing in the 1650FR (1 Mile race): Sarah Boulineau, Jaia Brinson, Sophia Noles, Zach Camp and Robert Scott. A shout-out goes to Olivia Noles who also made a very special sacrifice by swimming only the longer distance races during every session: 400IM, 500FR, 200IM, 200FR, 200BR, 200BK and 200FL! All of these swims contributed to our team points total. We also enjoyed some heart-pounding (and stopping) races! Great swims everyone! Excellent effort. Enjoy a well-earned week of rest. With everyone on deck, WE CAN DO ANYTHING! Mark your calendar for 2018! Thank you and best regards, DCS Coaching Staff DCS Board of Directors

Douglas County Stingrays *** THURSDAY PRACTICE CHANGE and PIZZARIA INFO*** Parents and Swimmers,... Three things: 1. It's here! The short course season-ending SouthWest Divisional Championships begin Friday afternoon in Columbus, GA. The Coaching Staff is delighted by the number of swimmers that will participate this year! We are in it for a team trophy and some great swimming. BIG REMINDER to 11 & OVER SWIMMERS: If your child swims in the AM session and qualifies for the FINALS in the evening, you MUST return to swim in the evening or else forfeit your right to compete the next day. We expect ALL QUALIFIERS to swim in the finals and earn points for DCS! 2. Tomorrow afternoon's practice (Thursday) will begin at 5:30pm for NOVICE, PRE-AGE, AGE and ADVANCED AGE GROUPS. The practice will be brief and everyone will be out of the water by 6:15pm. 3. From 6:30-8pm, we have reserved the downstairs area of Fabiano's Pizzaria and Deli in Downtown Douglasville for our team to gather, order and eat together before the big meet. The coaches will arrive beginning at 6:30 to answer questions you have about the meet and give a pep talk to the team! In prior years, we have tried to gather during Divisionals at a restaurant in Columbus. Regrettably, the meet schedule just doesn't permit enough time for rest and food for everyone! SO, come grab a table, order, and have fun. Fabiano's offers pizza by the slice, sandwiches, pasta dishes and salads. Their menu is family-friendly and prices are reasonable. Everyone is responsible for their own tab. Thank you and see you tomorrow! DCS Coaching Staff
