It's no secret that the Cartersville Farmers Market has evolved to become THE place to be on Saturdays in the summer... but you may not realize the true impact this incredible market has had on our community. In 2020 alone, vendor sales revenue surpassed $423,267. Estimates suggest more than 35,440 people strolled through our Downtown square, gathering up goodies to take home to their families. We can't even begin to count how many of those 35,440 market visitors stopped to s...nag lunch at one of our restaurants, grabbed a coffee to-go in one of our coffee shops, or popped in to one of our boutiques along the way. Besides being a weekly stop for farm-fresh veggies, herbs, bath/body products, coffees, teas, meats and more-- this market has revolutionized the farm to table movement in our community. Since 81% of vendors live in Bartow County, the majority of market sales stay right here. If you haven't had the chance to venture to the market, add it to your summer bucket list. With 40+ vendors, live music, and delicious treats around every corner, we can guarantee it will become a weekly staple in your routine.

We're throwin' it way back this Wednesday---all the way back to 1949! It looks like just about everyone in the entire town showed up for what looks to be the Grand Opening Sale at Young Brothers Pharmacy! Fun fact:... For those of you who may not know, the infamous Coca-Cola sign on the east wall of Young Brothers Pharmacy has been authenticated by the Coca-Cola Company as the FIRST outdoor painted-wall advertisement for Coca-Cola. It dates back to 1894, when an industrious Coca-Cola syrup salesmen named James Couden put down his order pad and picked up a paintbrush to create the first-of-its-kind sign. This sign received the 1990 Georgia Trust Award for Preservation 25 layers of paint were removed during the restoration to reveal the original sign.

We can’t thank Tree Amigos of America enough for sprucing up our beloved Founder’s Oak tree, which received some major damage during the October storm. Planted by the first Cartersville Mayor and Council in 1878, this historic landmark is a famous gathering spot for families who love to enjoy the canopy of shade by the fountain while watching the train pass. We are SO thankful for community partners who work to preserve the spaces that make Downtown so special.

We had TONS of interest regarding the Downtown Entertainment Zone, which would allow business patrons to consume alcoholic beverages outdoors within the boundaries delineated on the map. The hours on Thursday and Friday are between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. The hours on Saturday are between 11:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Hours on any parade dates or other dates passed by the council by a resolution are excluded.
