? Impingement in the simplest terms means something is being pinched. This could be a rotator cuff tendon, shoulder ligament, or your bursa. All of these structures go under a bone called the acromion which is a part of your shoulder blade (scapula). When you move your arm in certain positions, the items underneath the acromion can become pinched or compressed, causing an increase in pain and inflammation. ?... The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles that connect your shoulder blade (scapula) to your arm (humerus) and help stabilize the shoulder joint. These muscles work together to help you lift your arm overhead and rotate your arm in and out. The four muscles are the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis. ? Injuries to the rotator cuff are extremely common, and our physical therapists are specifically trained to help relieve your symptoms. Regardless if you have had shoulder pain for years or just started experiencing shoulder pain recently, we can assist in alleviating your pain! #physicaltherapy #outpatientPT #orthopedics #orthopedicphysicaltherapy #privatepractice #oneononecare #atlanta #georgia #choosePTfirst #pain #shoulderpain #rotatorcuff #shoulderimpingement #dryneedling

What does the typical recovery process through PT look like? 1 PAIN RELIEF - Our PTs will first determine the source of your pain and dysfunction. They will prescribe exercises and perform manual techniques to decrease your pain levels to make it easier to go through your everyday activities.... 2 MOBILITY - The next phase is improving your motion to allow you to move with greater ease. This may involve improving the flexibility of muscles, decreasing the amount of stiffness in a joint, or increasing your range of motion. 3 STRENGTH - After we improve your motion, it is essential to then strengthen your muscles to maintain the mobility gains. We will identify which muscles are weakest to help prevent any future occurrences of pain. 4 FUNCTION - After your pain levels have decreased, it is now time to return to your recreational activities. Whether you like to run, play golf, or workout at the gym, we will be there to help ensure you are pain free as you return to the things you love to do! 5 WELLNESS - We will provide you an updated exercise sheet at the end of your physical therapy plan of care while also educating you how to self-manage any issues in the future. The ultimate goal of PT is to reach this final stage and allow you to return to your full function. #physicaltherapy #outpatientPT #orthopedics #orthopedicphysicaltherapy #privatepractice #oneononecare #telehealth #telehealthPT #choosePTfirst #pain #painrelief
