Hey all- Grandmaster Lowrey here- I'm pleased to announce live classes again our new location at Fitness 1440 2745 Sandy Plains Rd. Marietta, GA., 30066. We're training there each Tuesday from 7:00 pm- 8pm. We're still holding our Saturday Zoom class from 9:30 am- 10:30 am. come join us!

Look Out! The DSD Website (among other things) is getting a new look! (Don't worry, we are not changing the curriculum ; ) But please check out dynamicselfdefense.com from time to time! Give us your feed back back and I am trying to help Grandmaster Hubby (as I so affectionately address him formally) But we hope to have more videos, student logins so you can access not only your belt assignments but also see visual aids as well. This is going to be a process, but photography ...and videography is not something I can do alone (and is impossible to do so while teaching or training) so I encourage anyone willing to help us rev up the "new" look for the website, we'd love and would certainly appreciate the help! So here is to keeping this art moving forward! Also, I remain on the lookout for those willing to give testimonials (like Mr. Rawls) or if you are interesting in writing and creating video blogs, we are open to all kinds of help and suggestions! This is a Modern Martial Art after all (MMA x 2)! If you have something you yourself would like to write down and suggest, please send it our way! There may be some critiques here and there but to see the knowledge of our students as a result of our teaching is the greatest reward an instructor could have. Also, please be there on the 11th to cheer on Mr. Rawls and Mr. Krishnan as they test for their First Degree Black Belt, and then the following Saturday to lend a hand and support our colored belt students as their test for their next rank on the 16th of November! We would like to thank B.I. Inc. for inviting us to their cooperate office in Atlanta, GA where we conducted a very energetic and successful self defense seminar for their employees. The B.I. group is a subcontractor for the Department of Homeland Security. Their employees often travel into dangerous inner city areas to conduct interviews and inspections regarding immigration situations. Their employees were highly motivated to learn and shared important insights from their d...ay-to-day experiences. We learned from one another and had a great time! Unfortunately do to the nature of their work, we could not get video footage or photos of this session. We have already discussed plans for future seminars and greatly thank Ms. Maritza Diaz, Program Manager II GEO Group/ BI for her leadership, and for putting this seminar together for us. Victory! From Dynamic Self Defense, once upon a time called Modern Defense which was founded on Memorial Day, 1997, we wish to thank all of those who have served this beautiful country in the past, and those who continue to sacrifice their time, their lives and separation from their family to keep us safe from the threats of the world. We try to give you the tools you need to keep you safe, and many of those tools have been derived from skills Grandmaster Eric Hennings learned in his ...time serving his country. So we just wish to take this moment to thank him and all the others who, like Grandmaster Hennings, who served to make this beautiful country and its citizens safe. If there is anyone you wish to honor, please feel free to post and tell us their story. Both of my grandparents on my Mother's side served in World War II: John and Ruby Vartanian. My Mother, Father and Uncle, Ann and Jimmie Chambers, and Bennett Vartanian served in Vietnam, as did Master Joe Camillo who in the winter of North Korea, loaded up a piano in a snow storm and drove through the streets of Korea, freezing in the back of a truck to play and sing Christmas carols on Christmas. My Father-in-Law Mercy Lowrey served in his own way by running a business dedicated to making our soldier's uniforms and his eldest son, William Mercer Lowrey (W.M.) served in the Army. I also just learned that Mr. Robney Chapmon served in the Army. (I have plenty of cousins and uncles that served as well, but if I listed them all, I may have to write a novel instead of a post;) We wish you all a very safe Holiday; we thank our Veterans and Honor them for their self sacrifice for our country. Please remember our soldiers who gave so much for our freedom. God Bless them and God Bless the USA. To Honor our Founder, with 50 years of experience in many different martial arts (not to mention a degree in the school of hard knocks... literal hard knocks!), we present this plaque to Grandmaster Lowrey who has touched and changed the lives of so many people, myself included.
