Update: Questions and Answers Regarding Stimulus Payments Please view below some typical and valid questions regarding the upcoming stimulus payments that the I...RS will be administering as part of the CARES Act. Please be advised these answers may change as this is a continuously evolving situation. Taxpayer Stimulus Payments Q: How will the IRS know where to send my stimulus check? A: Taxpayers who received Checks or had their refund loaded on to a card will receive a physical check. Taxpayers that received a Direct Deposit of their refund will receive a Stimulus Direct Deposit. Q: The IRS does not have my direct deposit information; what can I do? A: If you have closed your account or no longer have access to an account that was used when you filed you will have an opportunity to provide that information through a web-based portal with the IRS. We will provide that URL as soon as it becomes available. At this time we do not know if there will be an opt-in to determine how your stimulus payment will be received, but again we will provide information as soon as we receive it. Q: I have moved and my address changed. How will I get my check? A: Taxpayers should update their address with the IRS with form 8822. JUST IN: The U.S. is extending the deadline for filing taxes from April 15 to July 15, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a tweet on Friday.
