Eastman First United Methodist Church seeks a lead vocalist and guitarist to lead the music at our 8:45 a.m. contemporary Arise Service. This position will: - Select music (generally three to four songs) fitting the week’s sermon and/or season in the Christian calendar - Rehearse with the praise team weekly at a time to be determined by the incumbent and praise team ... - Lead band and congregational singing on a weekly basis - Be well versed in contemporary Christian worship music of the last twenty years - Have a collaborative spirit and can-do attitude - Be in relationship with Jesus Christ - Preferably be familiar with The United Methodist Church or a member of another UMC - Be timely, courteous, and serve as an example for our church The position: - Reports to the pastor - Requires eligibility to legally work in the United States - Requires successful passing of a background check - Is compensated commensurate with experience To apply, please send a statement of interest, links to video recordings of performances of contemporary worship music, and a resume to Rev. The Children’s Morning Out kids celebrated Easter with an egg hunt this morning!

Over the past few days, the Youth Group surprised kids by egging their yards and leaving an Easter note for them! Thank you to Leigh Law for once again thinking of a creative, fun way to celebrate safely until we can all be together again!

In today’s sermon, Ted issued a challenge for us this Holy Week. Every year, it’s easy to allow Holy Week to fly by us, full of the usual business of the week, the usual stressors, the usual crunches on our time. So, let’s free up some time this week. Fast from the news. Remember that a fast isn’t just about food, nor is it just about the absence of something from our lives. A fast calls upon us to replace something that’s habitual, something whose absence we notice, with pr...ayer. That means when you feel the impulse to turn on cable news or open your favorite news app on your phone, don’t; instead, pray or go do something that makes you stand in awe of God. Specifically, pray this prayer: God, where around me are you moving in power? If you are willing to engage in this fast, take a moment to delete news apps off your phone. If you keep the news on in the background at home, turn off the TV or choose a different channel so that you can’t be tempted by the frequent breaking news alerts. In your car, reprogram the button on the radio saved to your favorite news station so that you can’t habitually turn it on. Let’s take those steps and then move forward this week, praying when we feel the impulse to check the news, asking God, where around me are you moving in power?
