Georgia Chapter of the EdTA, and Georgia Thespians, and Junior Thespians are proud to announce that we have been named a National Gold Honor Chapter for the 2019-2020 year by Educational Theatre Association. In order to be awarded this highest distinction, a chapter must prove outstanding work in the areas of chapter growth and retention, advocacy, outreach, participation, community service and other creative projects and events throughout the year. Thank you to all of the troupe directors, students, parents, guest artists, sponsors, college representatives, vendors, community leaders and chapter board members who help us to accomplish our mission of honoring theatre and the relationships that make it all worthwhile!

The Georgia Thespians Board voted to make all student events virtual for the 2020-2021 school year. Given the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation, this is the... right path to protect the health and well-being of our theatre family; our students, teachers, and volunteers. Although a traditional ThesCon, Junior ThesCon, or LeadCon isn't possible in 2021, these Thespian celebrations are not being canceled. This show must go on! We are determined to create a one-of-a-kind experience for our Chapter. In the coming weeks the chapter board will work on converting the structure of these events to a virtual format. Look for updates for all conferences starting mid-August. While we'll miss being together in person this school year, we're excited to seize this moment for new opportunities. Theatre has always been a refuge through uncertain times. Georgia Thespians will bring the theatre education community together and celebrate the students who shine in their art. Keep your on-line eyes and ears open for more information as we go VIRTUAL.

We know that every Georgia Thespian senior is grieving the loss of their senior year and are missing their theatre families just like we are. The 2019-2020 STO ...have created the Senior Showcase Initiative in which they will be reposting home videos of senior thespians performing pieces of their choice. Due to copyright regulations we cannot post videos from live, past productions. These performances can be a song, monologue, dance, or any fun, appropriate talent of their choice! Videos are limited to 1 minute. We will be featuring senior Thespians on our Instagram story throughout the next few weeks. To be featured, email [email protected] for us to post your video on our story. Please include your name, troupe number, school name, personal Instagram account, and description of your performance in the email attachment. Remember, videos are limited to 1 minute. Please note that we will be limited in how many videos we can post. However, we still encourage your seniors to send in videos, as this is an incredible opportunity to share your talents with all of Georgia. Submission deadline is Monday, April 27th. We can’t wait to showcase talented seniors! Please share this with your talented seniors!
