Brawn and Brains Effects of resistance exercise on cognition. Resistance training activates IGF-1 signaling in muscles, increasing muscle mass and strength. IG...F-1 produced by muscles reaches the brain via circulation and binds to specific receptors that lead to the activation of signaling pathways. It acts on specific targets and results in improved cognition. IGF-1 = Insulin growth factor. Link in bio

He had Covid in the Fall. He has had a constant migraine since Dec. After multiple emergency room trips and numerous neurologist visits, he looked at me with tears and said, "I finally have relief." It was a good day. #irlenspectralfilters

Yesterday had a rough start, then I drove to Alabama and spent the afternoon with my buddy, Daniel. We've been working together for several years, and seeing his progress each time we're together fills my heart. Extensive physical abuse from infancy has really created some challenges for him. His attitude is always so positive and genuine. His perspective totally took the rough off my day. #irlenspectralfilters

Abnormal eye movements can be seen in Schizophrenia and Mood disorders. Various computerized eye tracking systems or eye movement indices have been developed in recent years to detect various abnormal saccadic eye movements and to diagnose various psychiatric conditions. Thousands of years ago, Achaaya Charaka has documented ‘chakshusho aakulatvam’ in ‘unmada purva rupa’, indicates the significance of abnormal eye movements in diagnosing psychiatric conditions even in early s...tages that too without using any sophisticated technology. 11-year-old, Eliana, suffered daily headaches. A long list of doctors performed a battery of invasive tests, only to tell her nothing was physically wrong with ...her and it was all in her head. Finally, she was diagnosed with Irlen Syndrome and found relief with Irlen Spectral Filters. #headache #migraine #solutions #irlensyndrome #awareness See more

And welcome to Irlen Awareness Week from Ocala, FL! Today I had another great response from a kid. One of the activities is to look at a figure that resembles a jack-o-lantern. The last in a series of questions is to rate how comfortable/uncomfortable the pumpkin is when looking at it on a scale of 0-10. I explained to the 3rd grader the scale and asked him to rate the comfort level of the figure with a number between 0 and 10. He studied the figure for some time, but he didn't answer me. I asked him if he understood the question. He said yes but still didn't give me a number. Finally I asked, "So....where would you put the pumpkin?" He brightened immediately and said, "on the porch!" Thanks.....we'll be here all week.

When I asked how many concussions, he said he couldn't count the times he had complained to his football coach that he wasn't sure which guy to hit, and his coach told him to hit the one in the middle.

Irlen Syndrome may affect an individual’s reading performance, but it’s not a reading disability. In fact, many great readers suffer from symptoms of Irlen Syndrome, such as eyestrain, fatigue, headaches, light sensitivity, depth perception issues, or attention and concentration problems. Here are a few key research findings related to Irlen Syndrome that have nothing to do with reading. https://www.irlensyndrome.org//19/research-not-about-read/ #isaw2020 #irlenawareness

It's the first time since February I was able to meet a patient at a Barnes & Noble. Sometimes when on the road I have to use these kinds of establishment if I'm not staying in the area and just passing through. It was very convenient for both of us and just felt so normal. And with the lenses she feels like her brain is more normal. Maintaining high grades in law school with a head injury is difficult to say the least. How nice that classes will be easier and she won't have ...to work so hard. Here's to more normal types of experiences all the way around! #irlenspectralfilters #nomoreheadaches
