Outerwear in the Building With the weather turning colder, we want to make sure all are aware of requirements for outerwear in the building. For jackets, hoodies, pullovers, and so on worn outside of the building, there are no restrictions. However, when students enter the building, the following restrictions apply, found on page 13 in the Student & Parent Handbook: Colors - Majority solid with no more than two color combinations of solid navy, white, ash, or black ... - prints, plaids, camouflage and other patterns or designs are prohibited Styles - Cannot bear a logo or name brand symbol or other insignia or message larger than the size of a standard credit card - no more than 2 insignia/emblems per clothing article Upon entering the building, students should remove non-approved outerwear as soon as it is practical and reasonable to do so. If you need to purchase a school-approved jacket or hoodie, you may do so through MySchoolBucks or by visiting effinghamschools.com/ecms-store.

Katie Mitchell became a teacher because she wanted to teach math in a way that was easily understood by students. With a degree in Middle Grades Education from Georgia Southern University, Ms. Mitchell was able to achieve her goal. For the past three years at ECMS, she has ensured students have optimal learning experiences in her classroom. Ms. Mitchell continues to strengthen her knowledge at this time as she pursues her Master's degree. Ms. Mitchell indicates her mom has ...always been her support system and she is definitely her role model. Originally from outside of Atlanta, she loves when her family comes to visit. Another important member of her family is her fifteen year old Rat Terrier, Sweetie. When she's out of the classroom Ms. Mitchell loves to read and spend time outside. Her favorite places to spend time are the beach and the lake. Thank you, Ms. Mitchell, for all that you do to guarantee sixth grade students at Effingham County Middle School have a strong foundation in mathematics.

It's Bus Driver Appreciation Week and we, at ECMS, showed our appreciation for the hard work of our Transportation Department. They transport our students to and from school safely each and every day! We definitely like the way "they roll"!

Whitney Sisolak has been a proud Panther for 6 of her 9 years in the classroom. As an ELA teacher, she strives to pass her love of reading on to her students while at the same time serving as a positive role model. Mrs. Sisolak names former ELA teacher, Mrs. Ann Waltz, as her personal role model stating, "She taught me how to make reading in school fun. So many of my projects and assignments were inspired by her." Mrs. Sisolak holds multiple degrees from Georgia Southern U...niversity including: a BSED in Middle Grades Education with an emphasis in Reading/Language Arts and a MED in Literacy Education. She also has both ESOL and GT endorsements making her a valuable asset to our learning community. Outside of school she enjoys reading, going for walks & hiking; spending time at the lake & beach; cooking & baking; watching & playing various sports (although baseball and soccer are DEFINITELY her favorites!). She and her husband, Nate, are the proud parents of a daughter, Charli (3), and a son, Corbin (1). Her time at home is spent taking care of them along with her dogs (6), cats(4), and chickens! Effingham County Middle School is blessed to have Mrs. Sisolak in the building as she contributes so much to our positive learning environment.

It all adds up to a positive experience for the students assigned to Mrs. Carrie Fritch's sixth grade math class. While it is only her 2nd year at Effingham County Middle School, this is Mrs. Fritch's 15th year in the classroom. Not one to rest on her laurels she is attending Georgia Southern at this time earning her Specialist degree in K-8 Math. As a teacher she LOVES watching students grow and develop a better understanding of math. She chose to enter this profession in... order to have an impact on her students' futures. She wants her students to know they matter and they can make a difference. And, Mrs. Fritch is definitely making a positive impact on her students' futures! Her family consists of her husband, Mike, and her two daughters (Hayley: 22 and Sydney: 20). She's "inherited" 2 dogs since her daughters moved out: Bootsie, a rescue dog, and Rosie. Family is very important to Mrs. Fritch and she cites her parents as her role models stating, "They are kind and supportive no matter what." In her free time Mrs. Fritch enjoys reading, traveling, fishing, and being outdoors. She also admits to occasionally binge watching Netflix. Effingham County Middle School is truly lucky to have Mrs. Fritch as a part of our faculty and staff!
