The planned drive-through flu vaccination clinic for students at Blandford and Rincon Elementary Schools scheduled to take place today at Freedom Park in Rincon has been canceled because of weather concerns. A make-up drive-through flu vaccination clinic for any Effingham County students who turned in a signed consent form but have not yet been vaccinated will be held 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 5th, at the Effingham County Annex (in front of the Recreation Depa...rtment) at 768 Hwy. 119 South in Springfield. Students from SEHS and ECHS Interact clubs, Superintendent Dr. Yancy Ford and officers from the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office kicked off National Red Ribbon Week at the Board of Education by hanging red ribbons. The theme this year is "Be Happy, Be Brave, Be drug free".

Ms. Regina Blewett at Springfield Elementary School has turned to Bessie the Book Bovine to help deliver books to students who have requested them through our library check-out system. Students can use their laptop or Chromebook to access the system and place holds on available books; Ms. Blewett, Ms. Burns, and Bessie take it from there. Don't forget to turn in your Free and Reduced Lunch applications by October 30. If you have already completed one this school year, you do not need to fill out another. You may fill out an online application at: https://www.nlappscloud.com/Welcome.aspx If you need a paper application, please contact your child's school.

The Effingham County School District will celebrate Red Ribbon Week October 26-30 as a way to unite and take a visible stand against drugs. The Red Ribbon Campaign is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people. You can learn more about this campaign at https://www.redribbon.org/

Effingham County Middle School enjoyed celebrating our drivers this week during Bus Driver Appreciation. We appreciate our Transportation Department and everything they do to ensure our students get to and from school safely. We LOVE the way they roll!

Congratulations to WTOC’s Top Teacher, Ms. Christy Anderson! Ms. Anderson teaches middle school students at Crossroads Academy and has been there ever since the school first opened. She enjoys working with our Alternative Education students and has focused her efforts this year to get community members into her classroom virtually. We are excited to see Ms. Anderson celebrated for her hard work and willingness to go the extra mile to motivate and support her students.
