Gartner predicts press releases and other editorial content generation by algorithms and smart machines. Marketers are going to find new ways to keep feeding the tripe monkey. Oh, really? And we consumers are just going to keep adapting to pap? No, at some point we'll collectively lean out our windows to declare our independence with the NETWORK shout we're "sick and tired and we're not going to take it anymore!" I suppose the handwriting's on the wall, though. Monkeys are a...lready churning out drivel on all available media channels. We're numbed by bad grammar, chopped paragraphs, condescending headlines, cutsie content, screaming (not just talking, anymore) heads, and grossly out of context bytes. How much worse could algorithms be? One big gotcha in this trend is Google. Specifically, Google Search. So far, Google has the lead in its dance with marketers who will do anything to come up first in a keyword search. They've altered their own algorithms as required to favor value. Will they win the war against mediocracy? Another is the Business to Business (B to B) marketing space. Few would put their jobs on the line for dribble. Meaningful content for the B to B space will always be king. By definition there must always be a value add for each side of a successful business transaction. And that, my friends is why there are few tripe monkeys doing B to B marketing. Which is why B to B content will continue to be created, edited and absorbed by pros whose livelihood depends on it.
