When Jamie Lee Curtis confided in a friend about her Vicodin addiction, her friend admitted to having one too, and recommended a doctor who would write prescrip...tions: I had a moment of clarity which saved my life I imagined that she would die and I would attend her funeral and I would hug her children and I would have blood on my hands This is her recovery story https://bit.ly/2NEl3a9

A common characteristic of every advanced species that survives and thrives is the fierce behavior of the adult female when she senses a threat to her cubs. To...day it’s not enough to be fiercely protective of our own children; we must be fiercely protective of everyone’s kids. Only if we expand the circle of our compassion to include every child will any child stand a reasonable chance of growing up in a peaceful world. 13 million children In America were hungry even before Covid, yet they are essentially invisible Americans. Too young to vote therefore representing no voting constituency, and too young to work therefore representing no financial leverage, they wield no real power in Washington. The political establishment knows it can get away with giving them little more than lip service. Children aren’t seen as a winning issue. Yet this is precisely why a country should not be run like a business; it should be run like family. The fact that our government is doing more to protect big businesses than to protect small children at such a time as this is a moral outrage and an unsustainable trajectory for our country. That so many Americans are left to fend for themselves through this crisis, without proper healthcare and without an adequate bailout - in many cases without even food - does not just speak to how America handles a crisis; it speaks to what America has become. Yet even here, in the depth of revulsion one feels at our official heartlessness toward health care workers, children and so many of our most vulnerable, there lies the seed of a new American beginning. It’s often when we see how off-track we are that we’re most inspired to change. America has historically responded to our worst deviations from conscience with periods of self-correction. We responded to slavery with Abolition, to oppression of women with Suffrage, and to institutionalized white supremacy with the Civil Rights movement. And we will respond to this. Other generations did their part and now it’s time for us to do ours. I am an American woman and I say #thiswillnotstand.
