Recently, it has come to light that students of color at UNC Law have faced racist and derogatory comments from a fellow classmate. The UNC Law Administration has failed to address the racist incidents, which occurred January 7 and January 14, to this day. APALSA stands with the 1Ls. We encourage you to sign the petition below and show support for the students of color at UNC Law. Sign here: https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSf6DiI3Ujs521wAk/viewform

COMBATING ANTI-ASIAN HATE: This past year, our community has seen a sharp increase in Anti-Asian violence around the country and ignorance in our own Emory Law community. For too long, America, the media, and our fellow students failed to see our struggles and actively participate in diminishing our experience. Violence is not reported on and ridicule is rampant against our Asian international students. Your APALSA executive board is calling on our extended community to ta...ke a stand against this racism and xenophobia. Traditional Asian culture may discourage rocking the boat, but we encourage you to come forward when you experience hate. We do not deserve this treatment; we never did. We hope to empower everyone in the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community to find the courage and strength to demand better from our classmates, our professors, our administration, and this country.
