Winter Holiday Meal Distribution Due to the APS Winter Holiday Break, APS Nutrition Department will distribute 7-day weekly meal kits (7 breakfast and 7 lunch meals) to all children (ages 1-18) in Atlanta on TOMORROW, Friday, December 18, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. from one of the 5 curbside pick-up locations listed below and by designated school bus routes from 2:00 pm-4:30 pm. Winter Wonderland and the E. Rivers Giving Tree New time: Thursday, 5-7pm Families are invited to come to the drive-thru Winter Wonderland event this Thursday in the E. Rivers parking lot. **Please note the time has changed to 5-7 p.m.** We encourage all families to bring their Giving Tree gift items if they sponsored a child, a Publix, Target, or Walmart gift card, or one of the following items for Operation Feed: 12.5 oz. cans of chicken, 15 oz. cans of fruit or vegetables,... or a 1 or 2 lb. bag of rice. Additionally, we are in need of extension cords and Christmas lights to decorate with during the event so please email [email protected] if you have any of these items that we may borrow. For families who signed up to sponsor a family in need through the E. Rivers Giving Tree, please remember to drop your wrapped gifts off at school on Tuesday from 3-5 p.m., Wednesday from 7-9 a.m. or during Thursday’s Winter Wonderland event. Happy Holidays!

Students are encouraged to wear: Monday- GREEN for keeping "Open-minded" thoughts and beliefs about those who are different from us... Tuesday- ORANGE for showing "Caring" ways to others around me Wednesday-BLUE for being "Inquirers" about other people's cultures, languages, and abilities Thursday-RED for showing we are "Risk-takers" to include those who may not think or act like we do Friday-YELLOW for being "Reflective" about how I can be more inclusive of others Please refer the flyers for more about Inclusive Schools Week.

Veterans Day Deadline is Today! If you would like a Veteran in your family recognized during this year’s virtual Veteran’s Day presentation, please email Shannon Sale ([email protected]) and Megan Watkins ([email protected]) by this Wednesday, November 4th. Please include your veteran’s name, rank, names and teachers of children at E. Rivers, and a picture to include in the presentation. ... ART AND ESSAY CONTEST Also, don’t forget to enter the E. Rivers Veteran’s Day Art and Essay Contest by this Wednesday, November 4th as well. All E. Rivers students are invited to submit a piece of art work and/or an essay. There will be prizes for the winners in each category. Please create art work or an essay focusing on the theme What Veteran’s Day Means to Me and email it to [email protected] by Wednesday, November 4th. Please include your child’s name and teacher in the body of the email but please do not include any identifying information on the actual submission itself. Thank you!

Trunk or Treat is ON for Today! The E. Rivers Trunk or Treat will take place today from 2-4 p.m. in the E. Rivers parking lot. Families should stay in their cars throughout the Trunk-or-Treat line and please remember to wear your masks. We are looking forward to seeing everyone’s costumes!

According to district guidance, Friday October 30th is an "independent learning" day for students and a workday for teachers. Students are encouraged to utilize apps in myBackPack or to complete any "CAN DO" assignments in Google Classroom. Trunk-o-treat school event is still scheduled. Families are encouraged to drive thru the school parking lot between 2-4 for Halloween treats
